Tiger News
Happy Friday,

It was another great week at Christ the King Catholic School!

ADVENT Reflections
We are excited to start Advent on Sunday. Our Catholic Identity Committee consisting of Mrs. Pappas, Ms. Aragon, Ms. Bidmead, Ms. Hollowell, and Mr. Klee have planned an engaging way for us to prepare our hearts for Christmas as a school family again this year. Students will use prayer beads to guide a daily Advent reflection. Each bead (color, symbolism, and scripture connection) will be introduced every morning at assembly and posted on the wall of Tuohy Hall. Then students will fill out a reflection booklet in their classroom to further engage with that day's focus. Check out our daily focuses here and join us on our journey to Christmas.

eLearning Days
The staff and I are making preparations to implement an eLearning day when necessary, Elearning days are a State Department of Education certified option we can use when we close school for inclement weather. An eLearning day counts as a normal school day and prevents us from having to make up a day in the future. We are planning on having an eLearning Day on Friday, February 15th instead of making that day up for the day we missed before Thanksgiving. I will share more information about eLearning days in the weeks to come. Below are a few important things to know.

1) Students will have 2 additional school days after the eLearning day to make up assignments.
2) All assignments will be a review of concepts that have already been taught.
3) Kindergarten - 5th grade teachers will email you a list of assignments by 8:00 am the morning of an eLearning Day. Middle School Teachers will have assignments posted to their Google Classroom pages by 8:00 a.m.
4) Teachers will be available through email to answer questions from 8:00-1:00.
5) The majority of activities will require internet access and may use IXL. The computer lab will be available after school for two days after the eLearning Day for students who were unable to access the internet to complete their assigned tasks.
6) Teachers will be walking their classes through what to do on an eLearning Day in the next few weeks.

Have a great weekend! I hope you are able to spend lots of time with your loved ones!

Giving Tree Collections
The Giving Tree project is supporting 70 families this year. We would like to have each classroom purchase the assigned items — and then bring all the items together for a prayer service on Friday, December 14th in Tuohy Hall at 8:30 am.
We would like:
Kindergarten to purchase 140 cans of mushroom soup (10.50 oz) - 4 per child
1st grade to purchase 140 cans of green beans (14.5 oz) - 5 per child
2nd grade to purchase 70 boxes of jello/pudding or bag of dessert mix (no eggs needed) - 3 per child
3rd grade to purchase 70 cans of cranberry sauce (16 oz) - 3 per child
4th grade to purchase 70 cans of fried onions (6 oz) - 2 per child
5th grade to purchase 140 cans of corn (around 15.25 oz) - 3 per child
6th grade to purchase 70 boxes of instant stuffing (12 oz) - 3 per child
7th grade to purchase 140 cans of turkey or chicken gravy (10.50 oz No Glass Please) - 3 per child
8th grade to purchase 70 boxes of instant potatoes (13 oz) - 2 per child (then you would need 2 more)

Please keep these items in your room until the prayer service. We will all gather in Tuohy Hall and have a short prayer service – in which 8th graders will be first to put items in the bags and will stay by the bags to help the younger children put the right amounts in each bag.

Based on your number of students you may end up collecting more than is assigned but rest assured that the food will go to a place where it is much needed.

There are so many great Growth Mindset quotes out there! This week at Morning Assembly, I shared a few and then challenged the students to send me their own Growth Mindset quotes. I am issuing the same challenge to you parents. I will collect all the quotes I receive and use some of them for the Growth Mindset bulletin board by the school office. Click here for a great list of quotes.
If you need a refresher, check out this link Moving forward, all of the Mindset Minutes for the year will be added to this link, so you can check them out anytime.

Handbook Highlight
Report Cards - Parents should keep originals and make copies for future use in applying to high school. Copies of report cards may be obtained through the office within 48 hours at a cost of $5.00 each.
Box Top$
The school earned $267.00 for the past 3 month period. This number could easily be increased by a little extra clipping from each family. Challenge your children to ask family members, neighbors, and friends to help them collect Box Tops and Tyson Labels for Education to help out their school.

This month there are hundreds of products featured that have Box Tops on them. Please click on the link below to see all the products available:

So as we approach the holiday season, keep your eyes out for eligible products and clip away for one of CKS's easiest fundraisers.

Thank you and Happy clipping!

Santa Shop Next Week
CKS Santa Shop is NEXT WEEK!!! Please read below for details and look for a handout and envelope in your children’s folders this week!
What is the Santa Shop?
The CKS Santa Shop is a store that is set-up in our school and run by parent volunteers. Profits benefit the CKS Parent Teacher Organization.
Our children can learn the joy of giving and making memories during the holidays with the CKS Santa Shop. For many children, this may be the first time they experience the joy of picking out their own gifts for family and friends. They love shopping in their own school, in a safe environment, without Mom or Dad seeing what they are purchasing. The CKS Santa Shop is also educational. Children learn the valuable lesson of budgeting their money and choosing their gifts wisely.  Gifts range in price from $1.00 - $13.00.
How does my child buy gifts at the Santa Shop?
Your child will shop at the Santa shop during the school day with his or her class. Later this week your child will bring home an information sheet and a budget shopping envelope in which to put money and for use in planning purchases.
Tuesday 12/04 KGA, KGB, 1A, 1B, 3B, 5A, 5B
Wednesday 12/05 4A, 4B, 2B
Thursday 12/06 2A
Friday 12/07 3A
What kind of payment option can my child use at the Santa Shop?
This year you can purchase gift certificates in advance of the sale, which you can print off at home via  www.holidayshop.org/giftcert . This may be easier for our younger shoppers. We keep track of gift certificates! If they are misplaced, we will still have a record of the amount remaining so that no one loses any funds. If your child does not spend all of the gift certificate, you will get cash as change. Cash will also be accepted.
**No checks or credit cards will be accepted at the shop.

How can I volunteer?
There are also opportunities for middle school students to help set up and receive service hours. Sign-up soon before all the spots are gone!
Who can I contact with questions about the Santa Shop?
