Tiger News
Happy Thursday,

It has been another great week at Christ the King Catholic School!

Don't forget we have an eLearning Day tomorrow! All assignments should be completed tomorrow unless you have issues with access to technology. Your child's teacher will have a link for you to fill out if your child is not able to complete their assignment tomorrow. You will have the option of having your child complete their work at home or work in the computer lab after school next Tuesday or Wednesday. Tomorrow's eLearning day will make up for the first school closing. Monday will be a good old fashion day off in honor of Presidents' Day.

Have a great long weekend.

Peace,

Ed Seib
Principal

The PTO Needs You! New
The PTO is grateful for the amazing volunteers and activity chairs who lead events and raise funds in support of our teachers, students and community. We have a few key open positions at this time. If you have ever thought about getting more involved, now is your chance! We are looking for a Co-Chair for Movie Nights, another parent/family to join the Kramers in planning the Tiger Trot, and a Co-Chair for the last-day-of-school ice cream social. If you are interested in joining the PTO by volunteering in one of these ways, please contact Natalie Sutton, PTO Vice President at  [email protected] .
Marketing Minute New
“We decided to come for a tour and the rest is history. We immediately felt like we fit in with this community and this was going to be our home.”
Natalie Sutton, parent of CKS student

Your friends and neighbors are school shopping now for next fall. Please pass along this review and tell them they can see more at greatschools.org .

And we’d love to hear your opinion, too! We want to hear it all...the positive and the opportunities for us to do better. Send us a quick note about your CKS experience to [email protected]
Mindset Minute New
CYO Sports Registration Change
Starting February 1st, we will be switching to a new registration site for CYO sports. The new site will allow us to keep track of the players and teams better, and most importantly, it will allow each coach to have a team page and post practices, notices, and rosters. The sports committee is excited for all the new features this site will allow us. One big change will be that you will have to pay when you register. This will streamline the process for the sports committee and alleviate having to remind people to pay.

Spring sport registration (softball, baseball, track, co-ed soccer) is due February 20th, so please use the new site to register once it is live. We have added co-ed soccer as a new sport this year. If you have already registered for any of these sports, that is fine. You don’t need to do anything. If you haven’t paid for these sports but already registered, then please use the regular method through the parish giving site.

After February 1st, you will no longer register through the orgsonline site to register for sports.  If you have any questions about the new registration please email  [email protected] . For general sports questions, please email  [email protected]
Safe and Sacred Reminder for all Volunteers
The Archdiocese has asked us to make sure that all adults who volunteer in the school (for field trips, playground duty, etc.) are trained and certified in Safe and Sacred. With field trips coming up soon, we wanted to remind anyone of this training.

If you have not done Safe and Sacred training, you can find it on the Archdiocese of Indianapolis website (or, click here -   https://safeandsacred-archindy.org/login/index.php ) You will need to either log in or create a new account, then watch the videos and answer the questions that go along with them. There is also a background check portion that you will be prompted to complete.

This process (especially the background check part) can take up to two weeks to be completed, so please start this training early!
Box Tops for Education - A Dime Every Time!
Thank you to those of you who continue to clip and turn in Box Tops for Education and Tyson Labels for Education. Please continue to clip away! Remember this is a great PTO fundraiser that benefits our school, is easy to participate in, and allows for a fun little competition between classes to track who can turn in the most labels. We only collect labels 2x per year and our  next collection deadline will be 02/28/19.

You and your children can help with this fun fundraiser by asking family members, neighbors, friends, co-workers, etc to assist you in saving the labels for our school.

Remember each  Box top label = a dime
and each  Tyson label = a quarter

There are collection containers located in the school lobby, the church vestibule, or the labels can be sent in via your child's classroom teacher. If you could please check expiration dates, and group together in increments of 50. Don't forget to label your child's classroom on the bag.
We really need your help with this event. Collection numbers have been lower than usual. So please keep your eyes open for the box tops and labels, stock up when items are on sale, and clip away. Thank you for your assistance!

Christ the King School Commission New
A discernment process will be used to fill three seats on the School Commission. Individuals are invited to submit a short application explaining their interest and desire to serve in this important ministry. If you have questions about the School Commission, please contact Allison Smith ( [email protected] ). Deadline for applications submission is February 27, 2019.

Baseball Sign Up Deadline Tomorrow!
We are looking for boys in the 7th and 8th grade who would like to play baseball this upcoming season (cadet level only). The deadline is Friday, February 15, 2019. Practices will begin indoors (usually around the middle to end of February). Then outside when the weather gets nicer. Games normally will begin the first week of April.

If you have already signed up on the old registration site, you do not have to register a second time.

If you have any questions or need more information, contact Doug Butler at 317-840-7840 or by email at [email protected].
Kickball Registration
Registration is open for all grade levels. Players must be registered by 2/20. 3rd and 4th grade students will be combined to form one 34 team. Due to the number of Christ the King athletes who play other spring sports like track, soccer, lacrosse, softball, club volleyball, we will require a larger number of players to be registered at each grade level for spring kickball teams. We do this to ensure we have enough players for each game when conflicts with other sports arise for multiple players. If we do not have enough girls to form a team, all registration fees will be refunded. Contact Kristin Felts with questions:
Christ the King Track and Field New
Calling all 3rd thru 8th graders! Come join us for Track and Field! Registration is open! Track practices will start in March at Broad Ripple High School.   Please register ASAP on the new sports registration website.

Not a runner, that's okay! We need strong field athletes too! Do you like to jump or throw? Come join us!

Hope to see you out on the track!
Christ the King Softball New
We are looking for  6th Grade girls  who want to play softball for Christ the King's CYO Cadet Team this Spring! We have quite a few 7th and 8th Graders signed up and need enough players to fill out two teams! Further, if you have a 7th or 8th Grader who wants to play, and you haven't signed up?...please do so ASAP!  REGISTER NOW! DO IT TODAY!  We are extending the deadline for registration to Friday, 2/22/19.

Practices will begin indoors after volleyball season and outdoors as soon as the weather breaks and will allow. Games will begin just after Spring Break, during the week of April 8th. The season will conclude by the end of May. Practices are typically held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays but will be scheduled at other times as diamond time becomes available. We are willing to work with any 6th or 7th graders who are also playing in another youth or Little League program. FYI
