SPC Automotive Students Earn Tool Scholarships

St. Philip’s College (SPC) Automotive Technology students Oscar Bernache, Sebastian Velasco, Ariel Soto and Justice Munoz, were recently awarded the Spring 2022 GUNN Tool Scholarship award. GUNN Automotive Group has been a continuous supporter of the St. Philip's Automotive department, sponsoring an annual scholarship which gives an entry level tool set to deserving students entering the automotive repair industry. Their contributions give these new graduates a jump-start to their careers as automotive technicians.



SPC Radiologic and Imaging Sciences Students Inducted into Honor Society

St. Philip’s College (SPC) Lambda Nu, a National Honor Society for Radiologic and Imaging Sciences, inducted the first group of Sigma Pi Chi Chapter members on May 11, 2022 at the Bowden Alumni Center. Inaugural inductees are Imaging Sciences students in the following programs. Invasive Cardiovascular Technology: Joshua Benavides, Brittany Brown, Chloe Chaponis, Nicholas Duchemin, Fay Casey, Selena Garcia, William Huddleston, Jonathan Riojas and Stacy-Ann Thorpe-Hood; Cardiac Sonography: Carolina Cavazos, Jessica Champion, Luis Enriquez and Erica Palacios; Diagnostic Medical Sonography: Tatiana Anfalova, Arezo Barakat,

SPC Archives African American History

St. Philip’s College (SPC) archivist, Becca Barnard, met with stakeholders in Looking Back to Move Forward: San Antonio’s African American History, an initiative out of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Center for Cultural Sustainability to preserve local African American history. The Archivist is also working with the HBCU Digital Art Project to ensure that the photo and art collections at St. Philip’s College are accurately represented in the project’s database, which currently includes 107 of our nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

St. Philip’s College (SPC) employees were recognized for going above and beyond for first-year students during the First Year Experience banquet on May 5. The FYE Warriors Award was given to Christa Mitchell, Health & Biosciences Institute, Dr. JoAnn Martinez, Public Service Institute, Alan Freeman, Student Success – Enrollment Management, Laurie Rodriguez, Advance Manufacturing and Logistics SWC, Enida Rehome, Student Success – Educational Support Services, Ola Robinson-Thompson – Student Services and Mary Gentry – Fine Arts and Kinesiology.
