BELT TESTING REQUIREMENT UPDATES:
The Belt Exam consists of 6 segments (Forms, Sparring, Board Breaking, Oral Presentation, Strength and Conditioning, and Defensive and Life Skills). Students must pass 4 of the 6 segments to promote in rank. There are no do-overs or retests. However, with these updates, a struggle with one aspect of the exam (such as a mistake on the form, or with board breaking) will not constitute a no-change by itself, as long as the student is successful in passing 4 of the 6 segments they will receive an advance in rank. While much of the Belt Testing Process will remain the same, there are two categories that are updated.
- Board Breaking - All students will now be required to attempt to complete 4 Board Breaks, two with hands, one with a front kick, and one with a sidekick. Students receive one attempt for each technique. There will also be a time limit of 12 seconds for Black Belts and 15 seconds for Color Belts. This process will be very similar to the Board Breaking Competition at the Championships. The number of required breaks is based on belt rank. In order to pass the Board Breaking segment...
-
White, Yellow, & Green Belts must break 1 Board
-
Blue, Brown, and Red Belts must break 2 Boards
-
Black Belts must break 3 Boards
- Oral Presentation - All Students will be required to perform a short Oral Presentation for the Judges. All students will recite their part of the Tiger-Rock RISE Journey Please see below for the oral presentation and start practicing at home.
Changes to the Tiger Rock Uniform:
Tiger Cub and Color Belt Students wear White Tiger-Rock Jacket at Events such as Belt Testings, Championships, and Champions Ceremonies. Now All Black Belts will wear a Red Tiger-Rock Jacket to events and Certified Instructors will wear a Black Tiger-Rock Jacket. All Level 3 Red Belts promoting to Black Belt will receive a Red Jacket at the Champions Ceremony. For this Belt Testing only, we will be presenting Red Jackets to all Black Belts that Test regardless of their testing results. Black Belts that do not test will need to purchase their Red/Black belt Jacket prior to the next event that they participate in. Honors and Leadership Team Members will still be recognized by the patches on their uniforms.
