Optimism

According to Henry Ford, “Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.” To become a Black Belt is not an easy thing to do and as you aim to be a higher-ranking Black Belt it becomes even more difficult. When leading and instructing Black Belt training for students who are preparing for their test, Henry Ford’s quote always come to mind. The students who typically have a positive and optimistic mindset tend to find success in their quest to become and achieve Black Belt Excellence.

It is not a surprise to see students succeeding when making efforts to attain their next rank when possessing habits of a positive and optimistic mindset. Instead of wasting their time finding ways they cannot do something they are using their time wisely in finding ways on how they can overcome challenges and obstacles that come in front of them.  This sense of optimism leads to many creative ideas assisting them in moving towards the right directions. More importantly the training becomes more enjoyable, memorable and meaningful.

Optimism means to have hope, confidence and a positive attitude. For some this is not easy to do but I do encourage you to begin creating this habit of optimism, especially when times become difficult. In developing an optimistic mindset here are a few things to consider:

  1. Focus on solutions not on problems.
  2. Minimize the negative when realistic to do so
  3. Celebrate small victories
  4. Have an Attitude of Gratitude
  5. Surround yourself with optimist
