Every $1.00 donated equals 4 meals provided by the food bank. If we could have every student in our district donate just $2.00 we would meet our goal of 45,000 meals. This is so important as the Food Bank is counting on us to help. They have seen a rise in participants by 50% since COVID. Together we can help others!
Congratulations to these 46 Cedar Falls student musicians
who were selected this past weekend as 2020 Iowa All-State Musicians!
The 74th annual All-State Music Festival will not actually be held this year, but a huge part of the value in this event is the growth our students who audition experience as a result of their time and efforts spent preparing for the auditions.
High school students will be dismissed at 11:25 a.m. and junior high students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 29. A grab and go school lunch will be offered. This is to accommodate for additional time slots needed with the virtual conference format. In addition, as previously scheduled no school on Friday, October 30, for high school and junior high students.
The District introduces a new communications tool - Anonymous Alerts.

What is the Anonymous Alerts app?
The Anonymous Alerts anti-bullying and safety app reporting system helps combat bullying and other negative activity in schools by empowering students to speak up. Social and peer pressure are some of the hardest obstacles for students to overcome.

The system allows for 1-way or 2-way anonymous encrypted communications between submitters (students, parents or community members) and district administration and/or school staff. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or reveal their identity when submitting a report.

How does it work?
To use this revolutionary new app, students, parents or other school personnel can simply visit the website to submit a report expressing their concern. Anonymous Alerts mobile applications can be downloaded directly from the Apple, Google Play or the Chrome stores.

Cedar Falls Community School District supplies students an activation code, making the app remarkably easy to use and students select which school the message should go to. In addition, informational posters explaining how to use the app will be displayed throughout schools and offices in the district. Buildings will be sharing this information with students in the coming weeks.

To send reports from the Web/Internet go to: https://report.anonymousalerts.com/cedarfallscsd

To send a report from your phone:
  • Download the Anonymous Alerts® app for free from the Apple Store, Google Play store, or the Chrome store
  • Start the App, enter activation code: cedarfallscsd
  • Send important reports to school officials
  • Add a screenshot, photo or video about the incident
In an emergency, always call 9-1-1!
We are excited to be partnering with the Inclusive Health Coalition of the Cedar Valley to assist them in creating more community-based inclusive recreational programs for our young people with disabilities. We would love to have your perspective and input regarding your child's experiences in local youth programs. If you would be willing to share your thoughts with the Inclusive Health Coalition, please fill out this survey: https://bit.ly/3nz95zJ. It should take just 5-7 minutes and will be used to develop an Inclusion Plan to lead their program implementation.
Resilience emerges through the strength, creativity, and commitment of a community and its individuals. We live in a rapidly changing world. The Cedar Falls Resilience Plan will build from our community's vitality, passion and sense of purpose to maintain our potential, and our abundance. The resilience plan seeks to create an action guide that informally stitches local resources together in ways that can improve prosperity and stability for our community and all of its citizens, families, businesses, and organizations.

The Cedar Falls Resilience Plan & Framework will be community-based and comprehensive. Community participation in developing the plan is essential, and everyone in the Cedar Falls community is invited to engage through online workshops, town hall meetings, and surveys. The City of Cedar Falls is funding and facilitating this plan's development. Some plan outcomes will be the City of Cedar Falls' direct responsibility as a government entity to execute. Many will be actions that only a diverse group of citizens, businesses, and Cedar Falls organizations can effectively pursue. We hope you will participate as we collectively sketch an inspiring present and future for our Cedar Falls community.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Make a donation to the connect>CF Fund. connect>CF is a collaboration between CFU and the district to offer more affordable home internet to students in lower-income households. With many students learning remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic, the need for home internet is even more important than ever. Click here to donate online. More information about this program may be found here.
The Governor announced a change to the quarantine recommendations for people that have been exposed to a positive case of COVID-19.

  • Close contacts of COVID-positive cases will no longer need to quarantine for 14 days if a face covering was consistently worn by both people during the exposure.
  • Household/residential contacts will still have the 14-day quarantine recommendation.
  • This does NOT change the isolation requirements for people that are actually sick or COVID-positive to isolate from others until: They have had no fever for at least 24 hours (that is one full day of no fever without the use of medicine that reduces fevers) and their other symptoms have improved, AND At least 10 days have passed since their symptoms first appeared OR since they had a positive COVID test if they are asymptomatic.
