CF Schools Foundation Christensen Fund
Supplies 2019-2020 Makerspace Items
In 2002, Elna Christensen left a legacy to "perpetuate quality of life in her hometown." The Elna Christensen Memorial Fund, established in memory of her parents, Nels and Kirstine Christensen, was a $1,370,000 endowment gift to the district.

The fund is now held with the Cedar Falls Schools Foundation. During the 2019-2020 school year, the district used $28,559.67 from the fund to purchase Makerspace items. Students used these items to complete six challenges this year, including the Pumpkin Catapults Challenge, the Spread Joy Challenge, and the Fashion Challenge, among others. Read the full article here.
2020 is a census year, when all of the people living in the United States are counted. The census is important because it determines everything from congressional representation to the distribution of billions of dollars in federal funds. In 2010, Iowa lost funding due to an undercount of young children. An estimated 4,726 children were missed. Some of the education programs that have lost funds in Iowa each year since 2015 by undercounting include: Special Education Grants, National School Lunch Program, Title 1 Grants, Head Start, School Breakfast Program.
