New Beginnings
To The Tikvah AJMI Family ,
As summer comes to an end and we approach the Labor Day weekend we are at a time of new beginnings.
For those who are involved with classes or other programs that have been in hiatus over the summer the level of activity will be ramping up. Jewish members of our community will be commemorating the creation of the world with the holiday of Rosh Hashanah which means "head of the year" in Hebrew.
We have a new beginning at Tikvah AJMI as I am writing to introduce myself to all of you as the new Executive Director. I join you as a daughter, mother and friend of people dear to me with lived experiences of mental illness. I also come to Tikvah with significant experience in the Philadelphia Nonprofit sector. I look forward to meeting and working with the members, the board and our stakeholders to meet the objectives of the current strategic plan.
I want to thank my predecessor Alana Hilsey, who will continue to be involved in Tikvah AJMI as a volunteer clinical consultant. Watch for words of wisdom from Alana in future issues of Tikvah Talk.
Whether you are already a member of Tikvah, or if you would like to become involved or know someone who would, I invite you to reach out to me by email at abby@tikvahajmi.org. I look forward to hearing about what Tikvah AJMI means to you.
May we go together from strength to strength.
Abby F. Gilbert
Executive Director
