The Tiger's Roar!
Tildenville Elementary School Community Brief
Friday, May 21, 2021
Tildenville Community Member,

When the last bell rings this Friday afternoon we are down to only two school days remaining in 2020-2021. Please remember that students are not to bring backpacks or bookbags to school on either Monday or Tuesday.

Accolades & Recognitions
Given that we are down to just two school days, we have centered this edition on Tiger success stories and other recognitions. I think the pictures that follow really speak for themselves as despite this extraordinary school year, our Tigers, educators, and staff persevered through to the end enjoying wide range of successes. This would not have been achieved without the tremendous support received from our families, volunteers, and local business community that stepped forward when we needed them most. Thank you so very much!

PTA Board
Congratulations to the newly elected PTA board for the 2021-2022. The newly elected 2021-2022 PTA Board is:
  • President- Becky Farrant
  • Vice President- Jessica Lemos
  • Treasurer- Jessica Rose
  • Recording Secretary- Elizabth Holst

Teacher Appreciation Week '21
Teacher Appreciation Week at Tildenville: May 10-14, 2021
Students showered our teachers with Teacher Appreciation Week gifts and special cards this month! Above left is a card given to Mrs. Clemons-Hager and above right is a Teacher Appreciation flower, homemade gifts, plus treats given to Mrs. Gonzalez-Florin. Given the nature of this school year, the kindness shown by students, parents, and the community carried a great deal of weight. Thank you!
We will likely publish one final edition of The Tiger's Roar! to capture some additional year-end highlights next week. I hope you enjoy this latest issue and have a great weekend.

Summer School Acceleration and Enrichment Camp
Hello Tildenville Families,

Thank you for signing up to participate in our Summer School Acceleration and Enrichment Camp. We wanted to share important information as we approach the first day of Summer School.

The first day of summer school is June 2nd. There are three required days in order to fully participate in the summer program. Students must attend June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in order to attend the remainder of the summer.

The summer program runs through July 27th and there is no school from July 1st through July 11th.

School hours are 8 AM to 2 PM, Monday through Friday. Students will be offered breakfast and lunch each day, with breakfast starting at 8 AM. Students are also welcome to bring their own breakfast and lunch and eat in the school cafeteria each day.

Each day will include a 120 minute reading block, a 90 minute math block, 30 minute special area class, 30 minute lunch, and a 30 minute recess block.

Students will be directed to their class on the first day of the summer program and the summer teacher will reach out to you within the first three days.

If you originally notified on the summer school interest form that you would like bus transportation and live in an area that has a bus during the regular school year, then your child’s name was submitted and a bus should be there on June 2nd to pick up at the bus stop. As we receive information from the transportation department we will reach out to you.

If you need information about the extended day options, our school partner Dramatic Ed will be hosting extended day on campus for the summer. Please visit their website at to learn more and register.

We look forward to your child joining us for the summer and continuing there learning!

Curriculum Highlights
1) 4th grade with Mrs. Hall:
Mrs. Hall's 4th Grade is using the essential question "Who has made a greater impact on the environment, humans or animals?" as a lens to guide our thematic reading unit. Students analyzed articles for reasons and evidence, then created infographics to display their conclusions responding to the essential question.
2) 3rd graders in Mrs. Blanco's class practice area and perimeter:
3) Having fun in Saturday School learning about science!
4) 3rd grade reading with Ms. Colon:
Ms. Colon's 3rd grade book report projects. These three students read the same book (La Niña y el Lobo) but chose a different project to present it- comic strip, book in a bag, and diorama. Each student was assigned a book and they had choices for presenting it.
