The Tiger's Roar!
Tildenville Elementary School Community Brief
Friday, February 26, 2021
Tildenville Community Member,

Next Monday, March 1 we are set to begin another successful month - this year is passing so quickly! Please remember that Wednesday, March 3 is an extended day (no early release) due to testing around the county and that this coming Saturday, February 27, is another Saturday School opportunity for any of our Tigers needing the extra support.

Attention 4th grade parents! Fourth grade is going to be taking a few FSA practice tests starting next week with the reading test. Please have your student ready on these days so they get a feel for the assessment:

  • 3/5 Practice FSA Reading Test
  • 3/22 Practice FSA Writing Test
  • 4/9 Practice FSA Math Test

We are still trying to get more of our parents to help us by completing the 2020-2021 parent survey. The link is below as is the scan code for your phone if you prefer. We depend heavily upon this survey for school improvement, so if this applies to your household, please take a few minutes and complete the survey today.

Have a great weekend and please be sure to look over the calendar below for any events that may apply to your student and household. Thank you.

In Tiger Pride,

Mrs. Alvarez

Spring Testing
Hello Tildenville Families,

This message is for 3rd-5th grade students and families. The Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) are still planned to be administered this year to all 3rd-5th grade students. All state tested are required to be taken at school and cannot be done virtually or remotely through the LaunchEd format.

Since FSA is a state test, that means if your child is currently LaunchEd, arrangements will have to be made with the school to come in for testing during the scheduled window or days for specific subject area tests. As of now there has been no word from the state on if testing will be cancelled or postponed, so we have to plan for testing coming up this spring.

Here are the tentative testing dates for each subject area test in 3rd-5th grade. These dates are subject to change.

April 6 - 3rd grade FSA ELA Session 1
April 7 - 3rd grade FSA ELA Session 2

April 8 - 4th/5th grade Writing Component

May 3 - 4th/5th grade FSA ELA Session 1
May 4 - 4th/5th grade FSA ELA Session 2

May 6 - 3rd-5th grade Math Session 1
May 7 - 3rd-5th grade Math Session 2

May 10 - 5th grade Science Session 1
May 11 - 5th grade Science Session 2

As we learn more, we will share the information with you. If you have any questions relating to testing, contact Mr. Dolfi at or at 407-877-5054 x3972225.

Support this year for our library
Thank you to all of the families who have donated books to the school library this year! If you have new to fairly new books of current titles you would like to donate to the library please drop them off in the front office. Books that are donated will be placed in quarantine and then either be placed in the school library or on the free shelf for students to take from. We are especially looking for newer non fiction books!

Lunchroom Composting Program running smoothly!
An offer from our support company for the Tildenville community
Since the composting program is running fairly smoothly now, and there's a lot of good energy coming from it, we wanted to offer all the parents and staff members of Tildenville their first month free when they subscribe for our residential composting service. We would provide a unique code "GOTIGERS," that they could enter when they subscribe on our website.

In case you missed the last issue...
Thank you to O-Town Compost for working with our school on this new program. Some of the compost that will be created will come right back to our school garden! We have a quick video here for our Tildenville community to explain how it works. Thank you for watching!

NEW!! OCPS Educational Videos
This week OCPS released cutting-edge videos to support standards-based instruction for our early childhood students! Videos are written and produced by OCPS teachers as a creative way to enhance the curriculum for PreK ESE and kindergarten through second grade.

OCPS has also partnered with the University of Central Florida to broadcast the videos on public channel WUCF TV, channel 24.5. Accessing the new channel requires an over the air TV antenna and a “rescan” on your TV. To do this, click the menu button on your remote, then settings, then rescan. For help with the rescan process, you can call the FCC rescan hotline at 1-888-CALLFCC /888-225-5322.

Here is a list of current videos with links to YouTube.
