  April 2011
Chi Alpha - Hawaii started this semester with a bang, as 37 of us represented Hawaii at Chi Alpha's annual regional Winter Conference in Sacramento, CA in mid January. Last year we took 17, so we more than doubled our presence there, including 14 representing Kauai, up 1300% from the one person representing Kauai last year! Our group representing Hawaii

was almost 10% of the 380 (from four states) at the conference.

Students were touched by God, and healed of deep emotional wounds. In addition to speakers Alicia Chole and Jeremy Anderson, Julie was one of the speakers for the conference (and obviously my personal favorite!) She challenged students to take off their masks and live an authentic life, and to activate the gifts and skills God has given them to affect their environment.

We had a great time together as a group. Students enjoyed our traditional trip to Olive Garden, and we drove into the mountains for an hour of play in the snow. We even had our first Chi Alpha - Hawaii marriage proposal on the snowy mountainside itself, (and she said yes!)

Thanks so much to several of our Assembly of God churches here in Hawaii that helped make this possible: Westside Christian Center in Kekaha (Sr. Pastor Darryl and Liz Kua), Aloha Church in Lihue (Sr. Pastor Vill and Grace Galiza), and 1st A/G Honolulu (Sr. Pastor Klayton and Sharon Ko.) Chi Alpha is moving forward, and we appreciate all of our individual and church partners. Thank You!

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS

****Thanks to the generosity of noted author and teacher John Bevere, we have been able to go through his Extraordinary teaching series with our Chi Alpha students on Oahu this semester. It has been a challenging time of examining our beliefs about faith, learning from the Bible, and making sure we're doing our best to live the extraordinary lives God has called us to.

XA Hawaii ladies lead worship through hula
Julie's dream comes true

****We saw the first fulfillment of a twenty-year-old dream of Julie's this semester when she and four other Chi Alpha - Hawaii ladies helped lead worship through hula at our Winter Conference.

****We had fifteen Chi Alphans from Kauai and two from the Big Island join a bunch of us here on Oahu over Spring Break to attend the Hawaiian Islands Ministries conference. We love to have the whole Chi Alpha - Hawaii family together whenever we can. Ella's first lost tooth!

****Our kids continue to grow like crazy! In a couple of months we will be the proud parents of an eight-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl! Eli broke his wrist dominating a curly slide in January, missed a soccer season because of his cast, and is excited to be back on the field in the Fall. Ella is becoming more and more of a young lady every day, recently lost her first tooth - and swallowed it. That's one that will never be under her pillow for sure. Our kids are all-star students in their second-grade and kindergarten classes at a local Christian school. After two years here in Hawaii, it seems that they have really settled into this major transition in their lives and are becoming more and more 'local' every day. Thank you for praying for Eli and Ella.

PRAYER NEEDS

We invite you to pray for us using the pattern SPF (like sunscreen!). To be a part of our covering, slather us with prayer and re-apply frequently:
*Strategy: The Right Plan
We are always planning and launching something new. Please pray for Miracles of Wisdom as we move forward.

*Provision: The Right Support

Pray that supporters will embrace this vision and join our team quickly, and for Miracles of Housing very soon.

*Favor: The Right Connections
Please continue to pray that we will have favor with the students we are meeting, for connections with people in positions of authority on the UH campus, and for Miracles of Relationship.
