Library - RTC Join Together
Last week I attended the "Anytime Anywhere Access To the Library" event at the East Las Vegas Library. I am a Trustee for the Las Vegas -Clark County Library District and we held a joint event with the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada to introduce a new free public service.

You can now jump on any RTC bus and access whatever the Library has to offer on their Wi-Fi system which is called LVCCLD.org/anywhere. This includes books, movies, magazines, resume writing assistance or even do homework. We are in the process of adding this onto our Silver Rider buses in Mesquite.

By the way, this can be accessed from your home. It is a convenient way to include our Public Library in your life every day.
County Clerk's Office Job Opening
A new permanent part time job is available for the Clark County Clerk. It is 20 hours per week @ $20 per hour and will be located at Mesquite City Hall. This office will be issuing marriage licenses and tend to other matters associated with the County Clerk. It will not become full time and there are no benefits. The hours will be a full day Wednesday and Thursday and a half day Friday. Interviewing and training will be held in Las Vegas at the Clerk's office.

You can pick up an application at City Hall or at the Chamber of Commerce on the 2nd floor of the Bank of Nevada on the corner of Pioneer and Oasis Boulevards. Applications will be accepted until Thursday, September 30 at 5:00 p.m.
New Restaurant Opening
Bombay Cafe at 340 Falcon Ridge #402 opened this week across from Mesa View Hospital. There will be a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, September 22 @ noon -- if you'd like to stop by. Let's support our new businesses with our patronage. I can't wait to try it myself!
Mesquite Night Out
I love this community get-together sponsored by our Police Department. It was canceled last year but we will be there this year. Join us Wednesday, September 22 @ 5 p.m. on the Lawn of the Recreation Center, 100 West Old Mill Road. This is a fun event for kids and adults.

Look for me at the Kids for Sports booth. My other city council colleagues will be there -- Karen will be at R.A.I.S.E., George can be found at Mesquite Works and Wes is likely to be with Volunteer Police. Visit the booths, enjoy the first responders presentations and mingle about with others in our community.
New City Staff
I want to welcome the City's new Assistant to the City Manager, Mayor and Council, Nancy Hewett. She was the Executive Assistant of Wolf Creek Golf Club for 10 years and has been the Executive Director of Kids for Sports, the foundation that helps all children play sports by providing financial assistance. In addition to experience, Nancy brings vast knowledge about the community to the job. We are thrilled to welcome her aboard.
