RE:  Governor Rauner's veto of SB 1657, the Gun Dealer Licensing Bill

ACTION NEEDED:
Once again, call your State Senator and Representative to vote to override Governor Rauner's veto of SB 1657, the Gun Dealer Licensing Bill. It is possible that the bill will be called on April 10th or shortly thereafter.

Find contact information for your State Legislators at http://openstates.org/find_your_legislator/.

WHY IT MATTERS:
L icensing and regulating gun dealers would help stem the flow of illegal guns, keeping guns out of the hands of criminals. This law would allow for inspections of gun dealers, background checks of gun dealer employees, as well as video security to prevent theft.

At least 15 states now have Gun Dealer Licensing laws. Increased regulation has been associated with a 64% decrease in the number of guns from those dealers used in crimes.
