RE: SB 3015 SA 2 & 3 Stock Asthma Rescue Medication in Schools Bill
Call your Senators and ask them to Vote in support of SB 3015 SA 2 & 3 Stock Asthma Rescue Medication in Schools Bill. This bill would amend the school code to permit schools to voluntarily stock asthma rescue medication (Albuterol) and for trained staff to administer it when an individual is experiencing respiratory distress.
WHY IT MATTERS:
In Illinoismore than 330,000 children are reported to have asthma, but it is estimated that less than 25% of these children have their asthma under proper control. Asthma is a leading cause of absenteeism in the state, accounting for 313,710 missed days. Asthma medical costs in Illinois are projected to reach $1.9 billion by 2020. Improving access to asthma rescue medication (Albuterol) would reduce school absences, hospitalizations and long term healthcare costs, improve health outcomes, and save lives.
