Welcome to September

Here we are in the Fall season already! Since September gets us started with Labor Day, it got me thinking about labor! I want to take a moment to recognize my amazing team who works hard and delivers the best spa experience in town! I am very blessed to have built such a solid, loyal and trustworthy team. Great job Skin Essentials Team!

Understanding that stress exists in life is NOT enough to conquer it. For most of us we have spent the last year and a half in a constant state of flux, bouncing back and forth in all areas of our lives, even the way we connect daily is different.
Recipe of the Month
This is perfect for your next BBQ with friends or family. This marinade can totally help you reach your daily value of nutrients as it’s calorie diet conscious, rich in calcium, full of potassium and low on the carbohydrates. -
Easy Steak Marinade Recipe

  • 1/3 cup A1 Steak Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1/3 cup Italian dressing

  • 1 tbsp mustard

  • 1 tbsp garlic, crushed

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • salt and pepper for seasoning
1. In a bowl, mix together all of the ingredients until combined well.

2. Season your beef well with salt and pepper and then place in a large Ziplock bag.

3. Pour marinade into bag and let sit overnight or at least 4-6 hours.

4. Remove beef from bag and let come to room temperature and then place on the grill.

5. Cook until desired temperature and then remove from heat and let sit a few minutes.

6. Enjoy your new favorite way to marinade your beef!
Self-Care Awareness Month
What does “self-care” really look like? Here are a few things to consider. Hope this month finds you taking great care of YOU!

1. What do I need today?
What makes your heart full? Do you need alone time? Meditation? A long walk? A chat with friends? Snuggle time with your kiddos? Whatever it may be, go do that thing or things. This may be hard to uncover at first, but with practice, you will start recognizing what fills you up more quickly.
2. How is my body feeling?
Take a moment to assess your physical health. Is there pain or exhaustion? Consider what your body needs to function more fully and happily. This can include extra sleep, stretching, meditation, a healthy home cooked meal, yoga, or a visit to the chiropractor.

3. What can I take off my plate today?
You would be surprised at the physical and mental toll that worry or stress can take on the body and mind. Sometimes, simply removing a few things from your to-do list can help relieve that constant anxiety. So much of the time, we just need to re-evaluate where our time is being spent. Remember, it’s ok to say no!

4. What will make me happy today, tomorrow, a month from now?
Be honest with yourself about your wants and needs. These can change from day-to-day and year to year, so be willing to make changes accordingly. If something isn’t fitting in your life, consider letting it go. Begin each day with writing down a few things that make you happy! Add to the list every time you think of something that brings you joy. Once you’ve made a solid list, start narrowing down the items that you want in your life on a regular basis.

Taking care of yourself takes effort. Our expectations of ourselves can be high. So often, we put the needs of others before our own. We encourage you to reflect this month on you and pick one thing you are going to do for you each day! Remember, you are loved and you are worth it.
