Time Limit Extended for 10K Event in Challenge Series
|
|
We have been asked by many if the 10K really needs to be completed within a 60 minute window for the Fly! Fight! Win! Challenge Series. After much thought into the operations and logistics, we have exciting news to share with you! The time limit for the 10K event of the Fly! Fight! Win! Challenge Series has been extended from a 60 minute limit to a 75 minute limit.
The Fly! Fight! Win! Challenges Series consists of three races in two days with the chance to earn a fourth finisher medal! The 5K race starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16. The 10K race starts at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 17 followed by the half marathon or marathon at 7:30 a.m.
We strongly encourage Fly! Fight! Win! Challenge Series participants to complete the 10K race within 75 minutes (12:04 pace) in order to start the half marathon or marathon before the start line closes. The half marathon/marathon start line closes promptly at 7:55 a.m. with the first corral starting at 7:30 a.m. Runners who arrive after the half marathon/marathon start line has closed will not be permitted to run their last race to complete the challenge series and there will be no exceptions to this policy. Please note that the start line for the half marathon/marathon is approximately 400 meters from the finish line of the 10K.
Participants will have the regular time limits of 2 hours (5K) and 7 hours (half marathon/marathon) for the first and last race of the challenge series. Learn more & register at usafmarathon.com/challenges.
