20 November 2020

Peace and Greetings to you!

This Sunday, we conclude our series titled: Time-Talent-Treasure! As we been engaged in our series, we have learned, that these three things, Time-Talent-Treasure, are what God has given to each one of us. These special gifts that we’ve spoken about, time and talent, and our treasure, has allowed us to learn what it means when we give back, and what it means to manage these treasures in our lives!

In my opinion, I can't this of a more significant Sunday to conclude our series with Giving Thanks for What We Have, knowing that as Christians, whether we acknowledge it or not, have a story as it relates to our time, talents.
Traditionally in the Christian world, this Sunday is Reign of Christ Sunday. Reign of Christ Sunday traditionally marks the end of Ordinary Time in the church cycle and serves as a prologue to the festivities of Advent, as we celebrate Christ's role as Lord of all—the world, the church, and our lives.

And speaking of celebrations, THIS Sunday marks the 49th Anniversary of Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church. Can you believe it? Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church for the last 49 years has: Ministered God’s Will. Magnified God’s Dominion, Created God’s Love and Cherished ALL God’s People, to the Great Milwaukee Community. As we continue and begin our 50th year of ministry in our community, and being the Vibrant, Inclusive and Progressive Community of Faith that we are, I invite you to join me as we begin a year-long celebration in 2021, culminating at our Annual Gala in November 2021. Watch for details and information as we move into our Fiftieth Year.

Today, is TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRABACE, and we take a moment to remember and honor the thousands of transgender and non-binary individuals who have lost their lives or have been deeply impacted by anti-trans violence. I invite you to make it a point to reach out to transgender and non-binary people in your life and let them know you care. Let them know you see them, you love them, and you validate them. Your kindness, your love, and your compassion will make a difference in the world.

I invite you to join me this Sunday for Worship ONLINE starting at 11:00AM Central Time, by connecting with us through our YouTube or Facebook links for our SUNDAY WORSHIP WATCH PARTY and CELEBRATE ANNIVERASRY SUNDAY, TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE along with the REIGN OF CHRIST with us!

We will conclude our Series: Time-Talent-Treasure, with Giving Thanks for What We Have, as we also conclude our Stewardship Series, incorporating our gifts, given to us in by God, which allows us to manage being the good stewards that we are.

As a side note: There is still time to be a part of this year’s Stewardship Campaign, TIME ~ TALENT ~ TREASURE! The Board of Directors and I encourage you to prayerfully engage and make your 2021 Pledge to YOUR Church. More information can be found further down in this week’s WEEKLY!

As always, the board and I hope that you will continue to share your church, Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church, with your friends and family, by inviting them to join our weekly Virtual Worship Services that are premiered every Sunday on Facebook and YouTube starting at 11:00AM Central Time. Please let us know you’re worshipping with us by leaving a message in the chat box during worship.

Blessing and Good Health to you!

Rev. Tory
Scripture: Ephesians 5:15–20 (The Inclusive Bible)

Keep careful watch over your conduct. Don’t act like fools, but like wise and thoughtful people. Make the most of your time, for these are evil days. Don’t continue in ignorance but try to discern the will of God. Avoid getting drunk on wine – that is debauchery! Instead, be filled with the Spirit, meditating on psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making music to God in your hearts Always give thanks to Abba God for everything, in the name of Jesus our Messiah.

Who are the great people in your life – the people who have offered wisdom and helped you become who you are today? When we have great people in our lives, they help us to make great decisions.
And we can be the person of wisdom and sound judgement in
someone else’s life, too. We conclude our series learning the importance of surrounding ourselves with great people and how
Jesus desires to be the central part of your inner circle.

We conclude this week with looking at:
"Giving Thanks for What We Have!"
Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR)
Transgender Day of Remembrance is an annual observance on November 20 and honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.

This day of remembrance was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence since Rita Hester’s death, and began an important tradition that has become the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance.

As we continue to live in this pandemic, we encourage you to partake in Transgender Day of Remember
By taking a moment today and remember and honor the thousands of transgender and non-binary individuals who have lost their lives or have been deeply impacted by anti-trans violence.

Make it a point to reach out to transgender and non-binary people in your life to let them know you care. Let them know you see them, you love them, and you validate them. Your kindness, your love, and your compassion will make a difference in the world.

DON'T BE LEFT OUT! Connect with us on December 6th at:
As your Board of Directors, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge and thank our Pastor and those on staff for the incredible job they have been doing in coordinating worship online via our Facebook and YouTube outlets. We are extremely grateful for the many long hours, ingenuity and dedication that it has taken to keep our community of faith connected with one another and the world.

Since we have been unable to pass the offering plate during this time of pandemic, our giving is tremendously down. If you auto-give, through your financial institution, we THANK YOU. But, if you typically place your gifts in the offering plate each Sunday, we ask that you please consider the options we have available for giving to the church, until we are able to be back in-person again.

There are several ways YOU can make either a one-time donation or even a recurring donation. Here are the ways you can make that happen:
  1. Through our Secure Online Giving Portal, or either of our two PayPal links. You can go to our Secure Online Giving Portal and/or our PayPal Giving Link for your regular offering or one time giving. You can also go through our regular PayPal Link if you’re wanting to start and set-up a recurring monthly giving for your offering. Click on either of the links below to make that happen.
  2. You can mail your offering via check or credit card by using one of the pre-printed offering envelopes that have been distributed to all our members. Simply insert your check in the envelope or complete the information on the inner flap, should you choose to donate by credit card, and return it by mail. If you are in need envelopes, please contact the church, either by leaving us a message or emailing us at info@milmcc.org. We will be happy to send some to you.
  3. You can send your offering via check in a regular addressed envelope to: Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church, 1239 West Mineral Street, Milwaukee, WI 53204.
  4. You can go to our website at www.milmcc.org/donate to do your giving as well.

Please prayerfully consider making a gift to support your church, so that we can continue to meet the needs of the congregation.
