OLD GETS A NEW LOOK
It’s getting cooler out, football is on the TV, and it’s the perfect time for entertaining! One of the best ways to watch a game is in the comfort of your own home. Whether propped up on the sofa, or having a drink at your very own bar, being at home with family and friends is just more relaxing than going out these days!

Speaking of entertaining in the home, take a look at these photos of a gorgeous bar created by FCI! Ample storage, a beverage center, and an ice chest are just a few fun features on this custom bar! A custom wood top along with a honed granite top for the back bar add to the warm yet durable features. A liquor ledge with under lighting gives off a fun unique look as well.
When taking a closer look, you will notice that the wood used in this project has an aged ‘barn wood’ like finish. Check out that grain! Did we use reclaimed wood? The answer to that question is no.

In 2016, we purchased the machinery required to create a wire brushed finish that creates an authentic aged ‘barn wood’ like finish, all while using brand new, kiln dried lumber. The wire brushing process helps remove the softer grain in the material, magnifying the natural grain in the lumber. We can achieve a look in minutes that naturally takes 100 years to achieve out in the weather!

Trying to create quality furniture and cabinets out of real, 100 year old barn wood is very difficult. The lumber is old, is very dry and brittle, and commonly filled with bugs. Authentic barn wood is often twisted and full of nails, making working with it very difficult when trying to create a quality piece of furniture. Any place you plane down, or make a cut, fresh, un-weathered lumber is exposed, making for an unsightly focal point for all to see.

We can do stained as well as rustic painted finishes on wire brushed finishes. All wire brushed finishes are top coated with a low sheen top coat, giving you protection from the elements without a fresh glossy look.

Wondering if this is the right look for your home? Or if you can use this look since you have a more refined palette elsewhere? Basements and bars lean towards a more casual atmosphere and don't have to mimic the rest of your home.

BE PREPARED.
No one can predict the future, and if you can, call me, I’d love to get some lottery numbers from you. But if you are like the rest of us, being prepared is the best way to avoid certain situations. That’s why we suggest being prepared when it comes to your appliances! Take the time to maintain, clean, and check over them, especially before the holidays. You don’t want to realize that your oven isn’t working properly when you are putting a 20 pound turkey in for your very hungry relatives!

Make sure to check all care and use booklets before doing any maintenance and/or cleaning on your appliances. If you cannot find these booklets, check online, you can usually find them on the company website. If you have a problem, we suggest taking a look at the trouble shoot guide in your booklet first; then decide if you need to make a call.

We don’t always know when something will go wrong with our appliances, but taking a little time now to clean and check on them can lead to a more enjoyable holiday season in the kitchen!
WHO YOU GONNA CALL?
Ghostbusters! Well, OK, not the Ghostbusters. They can’t help you when your oven isn’t getting up to temperature or your microwave stops working. So who do you call?

SHIPLAP, SINKS, AND SIGNS ... OH MY!
Farmhouse is everywhere, and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere too soon; especially after the recent announcement of the lovely Fixer Upper couple Chip and Joanna Gaines Hearth & Hand line coming to Target in November. But is this trend for everyone ... or rather every HOME?

I haven’t missed an episode of Fixer Upper. I love the designs that Chip and Joanna do on these homes. Most of the time, you see their signature farmhouse style; a look that goes with the homes that they are remodeling. They are in Texas after all y'all. However, they do not force this look on every home they have worked with. I think some forget they’ve designed in mid-century modern, ranch, eclectic, etc.! Do you see the look on the faces of their clients when they reveal these homes? They are in love with the style, because it represents them and makes them happy.

We should all be able to appreciate all styles, even if it isn’t YOUR style. Traditional, contemporary, rustic, and yes, farmhouse, can all be beautiful. Just make sure it fits your home’s style as well as your style; after all, you are the one living there! Don’t make your home be something it is not. Don’t design your home in a certain style because everyone else is doing it. We've all heard it a million times … If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you do it too??

Buy things that you love, that tell a story, and work well together in your space. I think that is what makes a house a home after all. Tell your story through beautiful pieces, whether that is your cabinetry, architectural details, or décor.

Here at Fehrenbacher Cabinets, we have experienced designers; we also have the privilege of working with the areas most talented decorators. We can help make sure your design works within your home, meets all of your needs, and will be a quality piece that will stand the test of time. We have the ability to create ANY style that you can imagine … even farmhouse y’all!
We love to hear from our clients!
I have used Fehrenbacher Cabinets for a few different projects now and I cannot say enough great things about them. Professional, courteous and total perfectionists!! They went above and beyond helping me pick out stains, finishes and most recently installed a fabulous piece of curved granite on my new outdoor bar and grill station. I will use them on every project that I possibly can!
