Dear Pendleton Place community,
A part of what we do at Pendleton Place is advocate for our community and specifically our kids. One of the funding sources that assists us in providing safe home is through the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Department of the Federal Government. The new budget does not include funding for the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program, a program that is essential in ensuring the voices of our youth are heard.
Our voice is critical to ensuring funding for youth homelessness programs continue.
We are asking each of you to reach out to Senator Graham's staffer, Grant Singleton, to request support for the funding. You can email to grant_singleton@lgraham.senate.gov.
Below is a template you can use for your email TODAY! - and edit as necessary - also ask others to do the same!

Dear Grant Singleton
My name is [Name], and I am reaching out on behalf of Pendelton Place in Greenville, SC to request the Senator’s support of the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) in FY2026.
We are deeply concerned to see that the FY26 House THUD bill cuts funding for the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program and rescinds already appropriated FY25 funds to pay for other HUD programs in FY26.
YHDP is an incredibly successful program, particularly in rural areas. YHDP helps to ensure youth who are homeless are housed, supported, and safe from trafficking and exploitation. Additionally, this funding is essential to preventing chronic adult homelessness, as there is a strong correlation between youth homelessness and adult homelessness.
Pendleton Place provides safe, stable housing for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness as they work toward independence. The loss of this funding would eliminate our ability to offer housing and vital wraparound services to 10 young people—many of whom have aged out of foster care and have no family support. Without our program, they have nowhere else to go.
We respectfully urge the Senator to support the inclusion and funding of the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program in FY26 and to protect the valuable FY25 funds that have already been appropriated.
Thank you for your consideration,
Protecting this funding means protecting the futures of young people in our community—futures that depend on programs like ours. Thank you for your support!
