"We need play. We need goof-around time. We need to feel free without fearing judgment from others. This is what play can do. We simply feel much better when we can enjoy activities in a free and non-goal-oriented way. Dance without worrying what other people think, sing or make music for the love of it, or just play games, indoors or out.

I came across an article recently written by Marilyn Paul which was titled, "3 Reasons Adults Should Make More Time To Play." I shared it in a social media post earlier this week in regards to this Friday's YogaRhythmics class, which has been one of my favorite ways to explore my more playful side for close to 10 years!

As kids, our "job" was to play. My sister and I spent hours outside in our neighborhood riding bikes over makeshift jumps, choreographing dances, playing basketball and other sports with friends. Inside we toiled away at the kitchen table with art projects and board/card games never feeling like we HAD to do any of it. As adults though, we lose a lot of those opportunities as we acquire responsibilities (you know, "real" jobs that pay the bills).... So, maybe we have to MAKE time!? Of course, we can't squeeze out more than 24-hours in any given day, but we can make time by prioritizing where and how we spend it. As the article suggests, some of my favorite memories have involved play and I'm making a commitment... amidst my "adulting"... to do more of that. Care to join me!?

Maybe you'll dance along side me in class tomorrow night, take your yoga practice outside over the weekend, or coordinate a game night with some of your favorite people!? Whatever you do, enjoy it.... it's good for your health!

Namaste,
Kristi
