It's the end of July.

We know.

It's breaking our hearts as well.

But the end of summer brings something sweet - and it's more than *just* apples and honey.

Soon, you will get information in the mail about the HHDs (High Holy Days).

If you are not (yet) a Temple Sholom member, you won't get that mailer BUT we can change that for you!

Guests are always welcome for our High Holy Days -

we just need to know who will be joining us!!

In the meantime, to get your High Holy Day self in place, join the Rabbi for an upcoming "Lunch and Learn" on Tuesdays at Noon. All welcome.

August 18: Forgiveness. What does forgiveness really look like?

August 25: Memory. Is memory a source of strength, or can it keep us trapped in the past?

September 1: Judgment. In a world that often warns us not to be judgmental, what can Judaism teach us about judgment as a positive and necessary part of spirtual life?

September 8: God. How do we understand the language of the mahzor, and how do we reconcile its vision of God with our own beliefs and experiences?

If you are looking for some outstanding resources ... some really good companions for HHD prep, check out:

Bridge to Forgiveness: Stories and Prayers for finding God and restoring wholeness. By Rabbi Karyn Kedar.

Unfolding: A High Holy Day Companion. By Rabbi Karyn Kedar.

This is Real and you are completely unprepared. By Rabbi Alan Lew.

Dates below

(service times and details will follow soon)

Rosh HaShanah

Friday, Sept. 11 & Saturday, Sept. 12

Yom Kippur

Sunday, Sept. 20 & Monday, Sept. 21

Shofar Sounding

Looking for a little more shofar in your life?

Rosh HaShanah is when we blast the ram's horn 100 times!!

Tashlikh - Cast away your sins

Your deeds may be crummy so why not toss a few crumbs into the Housatonic? Actually, we've been warned that the fish and fowl prefer vegetables ... so consider a salad. No kidding.

Arts & Crafts & Kids

We are happy to have the younger set among us ... two things to know:

**There will be a couple of tables set up downstairs with some books, some art projects, and just some room to spread out so when younger worshippers needs to make music of their own liking, they aren't distracted by all that "fancy stuff upstairs."

**KID'S SERVICE (think 2-7 year olds) at 9am before the "main" service at 10am. Adults who bring the kids - this does NOT qualify as YOUR worship experience ... but it certainly will be much faster.

Apples & Honey

Join us after services on Rosh HaShanah evening for a quick 'nosh' (small bite) of a little something sweet - no pressure to stay, but you just never know what sweet treats might be waiting for you!

And of course ... Break Fast on Yom Kippur is always a crowd pleaser with way more than 'just' apples & honey. It's bagels, whitefish salad, lox ... all those good reminders of Jewish fare.

Got questions? Reach out to Shannon Nelson, Temple Administrator (admin@tsholom.org) who can register you for services, answer your questions (or find someone who can) and is always ready to help!
