Florida State Policymakers
Heard You This Year!

It's time to appreciate, engage,
and prepare for next year.

WHY take the time now to show appreciation?  Your advocacy efforts did result in Florida policymakers appropriating $21,250,928 to fund three of the four main DCA grant-funding categories, and the Culture Builds Florida category is fully funded.

Even though the full appropriations of $61,660,924 to fully fund all 664 well-vetted, recommended 2019-20 Department of State (DOS) Division of Cultural Affairs (DCA) matching grants or our revised requests were not provided by the 2019 Florida Legislature, they did respond to your requests and partially restored DCA funding for matching grants.

WHAT will those 2019-20 DCA matching grant amounts be for those applicants funded in your county?  Answer

WHERE w ill these 2019-20 state DCA appropriation investments take Florida's national ranking?

From 48 to 20
(subject to change when NASAA finalizes FY 2020 state reports)

Who do we thank for these partial state-appropriation investment restorations in DOS DCA matching grants?

First, many thanks to each of you for your advocacy efforts.  Your state policymakers listened to all of you and responded to your requests.  It's now time to say "thank you" to them.

CONTACTS and SUGGESTIONS:   Here is a one-page document  with links to who should be thanked and their contact information, including your state senator and representative and those who represent your county in the Florida Legislature.
Some suggestions are also included to add to your personal thank you messages and letters.  Be creative and make personal to your organization and county.  See a couple of creative examples below:

Students at the Thomas Armour Youth Ballet created hand-painted thank you posters and cards for state leaders, as well as personal legislative thank you posters for those legislators who represent Miami-Dade County.
