Time to Talk About Social Justice and Racism:
Conversations for Middle and High School Students
attending Farragut Middle School and Hastings High School

Conversations about social justice and racism were organized in the spring and summer of 2020, to create a safe, judgment-free, and welcoming environment for middle and high school students to ponder and discuss what they were hearing and seeing around the country as well as what they were experiencing in school and in the community.

These conversations are necessary and must continue. All middle and high school students are welcome. Mr. Tesfa Stewart, Assistant Director of Special Education, Ms. Jeanette Kocur, Director of School Counseling, and Dr. Valerie Henning-Piedmonte, Superintendent of Schools will host these student conversations once per month from 3:15 pm-4:00 pm on the following dates:

Dates: November 4, 2020; December 22, 2020; January 27, 2021;
March 10, 2021; April 7, 2021; May 5, 2021 and June 9, 2021

The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) provides resources about what anti-racism means found here, most notably the Nine important elements of anti-racist education.

The same Zoom link below will be used for the seven meetings.
