Important Dates-System Upgrade Timeline

As the Great Start to Quality system is being upgraded to provide an improved user experience, there will be a period of time in which providers are unable to complete tasks inside STARS in order to maintain their current rating.

All providers whose Star rating expires between July 1 and October 31, 2019 are encouraged to submit their Self-Assessment Survey (SAS) as early in their Re-Rating window (180 days before expiration) as possible. V isit  www.greatstarttoquality.org  to access your profile to get started.

Remember, all licensed child care programs participating in, or interested in participating in, Great Start to Quality must have an Organization Profile in MiRegistry in order to have their rating published with the upgraded system.

Because HighScope is transitioning to PQA-R for preschool classrooms from the current Preschool PQA, alongside the transition to the upgraded system, Great Start to Quality Assessors will not conduct on-site assessments for programs with one or more preschool classrooms, until the upgraded system is in place on October 1.

Transition Dates
September 22- September 30

There will be a period of downtime in order for the full upgrade to be complete. This timeframe has not yet been determined but will be shared once that is finalized. Users will not be able to access STARS during this time.

October 1

Upgraded system will be in place for all users.
Maintain Your Star Rating

The most important part of this transition is that  providers with a current published rating and an Organization Profile in MiRegistry will maintain their rating through the upgrade, unless their rating expires.  For those programs who are in the rating process,  any uncompleted SAS information will not be saved through the upgrade.

It is recommended that programs save any documents used as evidence in their SAS, as these documents will not be saved in the system during upgrade. Currently rated programs will have access to their most recent SAS or Validation report to reference in the upgraded system within their Organization Profile once they are ready to apply for a rating in the upgraded system.

*Please note: this timeline also applies to OST only programs who currently submit their Self-Assessment for Great Start to Quality through Survey Monkey. Beginning October 1, OST only programs will complete their rating in the upgraded system.
