Our Queens Center is not large enough to accommodate, with proper distancing, any viable minyan for our RH & YK needs. We searched extensively for other places and were very close to concluding that we could not practically have RH/YK minyanim in Queens this year.
We are happy to announce, however, that with much siyata d'shmaya and the graciousness of Rabbi Yaakov Lonner and Yeshiva Central Queens we will be renting the gym of YCQ for all of our RH and YK services. This means that we can accommodate at least most of our usual attendees (both men and women) properly spaced out in a room that has a 17 foot high ceiling and is well ventilated with special new filters being installed in the next few weeks. We will have access to bathrooms which will be cleaned regularly and, as well, we will have full professional security on site. Unfortunately there will not be handicap accessibility on Yom Tov.
We will have our usual inspiring and totally quiet yeshiva style davening although we will tweak the davening (start with mizmor shir, eliminate sale of aliyos, cut down on drashos, minimize mishebeirachs etc.) to shorten the time we are there. Masks will need to be worn at all times covering mouth and nose. Seats will be made available to men, women and children even below bar mitzvah as long as they can sit in their seats with masks on whenever in the room. Of course, family members who are mixing with each other before yom tov can and will be seated together. Nobody will be registered from out of town where there are increased risks. Further and full details will be provided to registrants closer to Yom Tov.
Although it has been many many years since we raised our prices for seats, it will be necessary this year to do so because of our new and additional costs ( e.g. building rental, maintenance and security fees etc ) and space for less people over which to share these costs. Reduced rates for JHC members* are $225 per seat (includes RH and YK). Regular rates are $250 per seat.**
