Builder Tip #52 from HomebuiltHELP
Using a Diode with your Battery Contactor
Some have it - and others don't!
Why use a Diode with your battery/starter contactor?

That little electronic capsule (a diode) is sometimes found attached to the terminals of contactors and solenoids on experimental and certified aircraft. Why is it there and what does it do? Should you add one if the contactor on your homebuilt aircraft doesn't come with one? Where do you attach the wires and where to buy one?

These and other questions are discussed in our latest tip video. (last week's tip presented the basics of battery and starter contactors)
