Motivating Middle Schoolers

There is no doubt that middle school students can be difficult to engage at times, and this can be especially true for home teachers who are also parents. Students in middle school hold on fiercely to their newly discovered independence, and at the same time they need some guidance while they learn to develop their own thoughts and opinions about the world around them.

Learning with an adolescent might require a shift in thinking and planning for the home teacher, but it can also be the start of a new dynamic in your homeschooling relationship. In this blog post, we share tips and ideas for motivating middle school students.

Written by Angela Berkfield, a member of our local community who passed away in 2021, Parenting 4 Social Justice offers a rich collection of resources, real-life examples, and guided opportunities for reflection for families and students at all stages in their social justice journey.

And through Friday, February 4, we will be donating 100% of the profits on purchases of Parenting 4 Social Justice to the Root Social Justice Center, a non-profit organization, which was co-founded by Angela Berkfield.
