Solvy, Fabri-Solvy & Ultra Solvy
Water-Soluble Embroidery Toppings & Films
Solvy™ is a water-soluble embroidery topping and stabilizer that creates a smooth embroidery surface. Perfect for terry cloth, fleece, knits, and various textured fabrics. Stitches won't sink into the fabric, giving a crisp definition and detail to your work. Ideal for when you do not want any stabilizer to show.
New for 2013, Fabri-Solvy is a non-woven backing that dissolves when washed leaving zero stabilizer residue. Also new for 2013, Ultra Solvy is a thick water-soluble embroidery film that can be used in a hoop for direct embroidery without using any fabric or other stabilizers. Creates a soft and flexible piece of free-standing embroidery! Use as a topping for soft pile fabrics, knitwear, terry cloth, or whenever highly detailed embroideries would disappear in the material. Use as a backing for embroidery blanks where both fabric sides are visible to the end user and residual visual backing is undesirable.

Tips for Using Solvy, Fabri-Solvy & Ultra Solvy Embroidery Topping
- Solvy can be used on either the top or bottom of your embroidery garment or embroidery blank.
- Works on high speed embroidery machines.
- We recommend you hoop Solvy together with the material.
- When working with terry cloth, use Solvy on both fabric sides, if needed (as topping and backing).
- If you don't want to wash the embroidery to remove residual Solvy - wet a remnant piece of nonwoven backing and place it on the embroidery - then iron until completely dry. When you tear away the nonwoven remnant, Solvy will be removed without leaving any traces of stabilizer or backing!
- To make sure the 8" x 8" pre-cut squares will work for your projects, measure a piece of topping that you are currently using. Since you do not have to hoop the Solvy, it can be smaller than the hoop.
- When sewing completely filled-in patches, the embroidery design should be digitized so that all segments and threads are interlinked. If not, the design will fall apart when you remove the Ultra Solvy water soluble film.
Always remember to test your choice of stabilizer before starting each project for the best results.
