People are at the heart of the fresh produce industry. Farmworker Awareness Week presents an opportunity to share authentic stories that help customers understand the immense value farmworkers bring to the fresh produce industry through their specialized skill and knowledge.
Sharing authentic stories to highlight the farmworkers in your supply chain can be done formally or informally, with photos, videos or the written word.
Here are a few ideas to get started mining stories from your staff for this year's Farmworker Awareness Week:
- Capture the story behind an employee-suggested improvement to a process, a piece of equipment or a facility.
- Interview the employee who has been with your company for the longest time about what has changed in agriculture and what they've learned along the way. Share quotations and photos.
- Highlight employees representing the different job positions in your company and the most important daily tasks they perform.
- Ask several employees the same question, and string their answers together in a blog or video. For instance, "What do you wish grocery store shoppers knew about your work?" or "How does it feel to know you're contributing to putting fresh food on consumers' tables?"
