Well, here we are, another Friday in this strange, strange world where it's becoming harder to keep track of which day it is! I hope you and yours are doing as well as possible under the circumstances.

My goal as a speaker, coach and writer has always been to address what people are going through individually and collectively - what stresses you might be experiencing or where you might be stuck - and provide guidance, support and inspiration for you to feel more aligned and at peace within yourself and your life as a whole. As this has been my life's work, I feel there is no more important time for me to do what I do, and I hope to help you through this crisis and its aftermath in a variety of ways.

Today I want to remind you that what you focus on grows, so focus on the good, the positive, the beautiful, the uplifting. Be informed, smart and reasonably cautious, but do not get sucked into what the media wants you to feel and know so that you are not thinking and feeling for yourself and your reality as it is RIGHT NOW.

This is why I chose this week's PGG. If you are not an essential worker (and THANK YOU if you are!) or have not been directly impacted by the illness yourself or someone close to you, you can mitigate the situation projected via the news and images we are hearing and seeing, which is both very real but also very concentrated and amplified, so be mindful of that. This is going to be a marathon: Fear, anger and anxiety are not good for your mental health nor immune system, so do what you can to boost your feel-good feelings to counteract any panic, horror and/or outrage.

I want to expand the ways in which I can be of service (and stretch myself, i.e. my own personal growth!), so I started doing little videos with thoughts and tips that might help get you through this time. Right now they're on my IGTV and will be on my YouTube channel shortly - be sure you follow and subscribe so you know when they're posted. If nothing else, it's a little break in your day to connect virtually with me, and perhaps take your mind off things and/or give you a different perspective. I'm kind of just seeing how it unfolds so feel free to send any feedback as to what you'd like to see or what would be of benefit to you.

Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Spring has finally sprung! Everywhere you look, flowers and trees are blooming up a storm – the colorful symphony of tulips, lilacs, daffodils, cherry blossoms and dogwoods are waking up the city from its cold, long winter slumber, filling us with gorgeous eye candy and reminding us of the new possibilities that exist within and around us.

It’s such a fleeting moment; it only seems to last a week or two, so it’s now or never to take notice and appreciate the beauty and magic while it exists. This is a perfect time to pay attention to the prettiest new little things around you, and to celebrate these glorious gifts of Nature.

Beauty is one of the greatest pleasures in life, and a flower is one of the simplest and most tangible expressions of it. If you can’t soak up all that is staring you in the face right now, then how will you recognize and appreciate the more subtle beauty within and around you throughout the year?

In New York City we tend to rush from here to there, with our noses in our smartphones or blinders on as we think about whatever, when what we really need to do in those transitional times throughout the day is stop and smell the roses, literally and figuratively.  Slowing down, taking a few deep breaths and becoming aware of your surroundings, especially when they are so lovely, is a great cure for stress and anxiety. I’m sure that if you just try it, like Mikey, you’ll like it!
