Georgina Council adopts 2026 budget

Georgina Council has adopted the 2026 budget, which includes a 2.25 per cent increase for operating expenditures and 1.25 per cent increase for an infrastructure levy for a total tax levy increase of 3.5 per cent. The infrastructure levy contribution is essential to address the funding shortfalls identified in the Asset Management Plan. The 2026 budget is focused on enhancing the spaces that define everyday life including parks, neighbourhoods, cultural venues and shared public areas. Read more

Beginning Dec. 31, 2025, the Town of Georgina will transition its Blue Box recycling program to Circular Materials, the organization responsible for overseeing recycling on behalf of producers throughout Ontario. New blue recycling carts have arrived in Georgina but remember – don’t use them until the week of Jan. 5. There will be no recycling collection the week of Dec. 29. Anything placed in the new carts before the week of Jan. 5, 2026 will not be collected.

If the standard 360-litre cart does not meet your recycling needs, you can request an exchange for a smaller cart by completing the Recycling Cart Exchange Request Form. Only one cart exchange is permitted per address. The form can be found at circularmaterials.ca/georgina. For questions or concerns, contact Circular Materials at CustomerService@CircularMaterials.ca or 1-833-779-4351. Visit circularmaterials.ca for more information.
