Meet Mrs. Emma
Sophomores will get to know Mrs. Emma Wilson Parker very well, as she oversees Orientation, Welcome Week, Leadership Education (LEAD), and our Service Learning program. Mrs. Emma has been at IMSA for four years, starting with the Outreach Team, and helping with summer programming. In 2023, she moved to the Student Affairs Office to continue working with students. She finds passion in helping students pursue their own goals in leadership development and volunteerism in their home communities and the IMSA community.
Mrs. Emma's favorite event on campus is the Student Leadership Exchange, and she enjoys it when students pop into her office during the day to chat. She can't wait to welcome the Class of 27 to the IMSA community at Orientation this summer!
If you have questions about Orientation, LEAD, or Service Learning at IMSA, you can reach Mrs. Emma at ewilson1@imsa.edu.

Meet Ms. Minerva
Meet Ms. Minerva Ratsamy, Senior Administrative Assistant in Student Affairs. Her main responsibilities include coordinating annual registration, overseeing move-in procedures for all classes, and fostering communication with students and their families. She is a valuable resource to the IMSA community, offering support in various capacities. Minerva graduated from West Aurora High School and spent most of her life in the Aurora area. Before joining IMSA, she dedicated 14 years to Two Rivers Head Start. Now, with nearly 18 years at IMSA under her belt, Minerva's dedication to working directly with students and families shines through. Among her cherished memories are the lasting relationships formed with students and staff, even after they graduate or retire from IMSA.
If you have questions about registration, move-in procedure, or other Student Affairs questions, you can reach Ms. Minerva at mratsamy@imsa.edu.

At IMSA, all sophomores participate in a year-long leadership education class called LEAD. Throughout this course, students dive into critical discussions on leadership, participate in hands-on exercises, and conduct group projects, all facilitated by upperclassmen. In the first semester, students explore their understanding of leadership and then implement their leadership skills in their elective courses during the spring semester. Students can choose from three electives: SocEnt (social entrepreneurship), EnACT (public policy), and IMPACT (data journalism). These electives guide students as they work on group projects that address a social issue under one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Finally, students present their projects to a panel of experts at the annual Student Leadership Exchange.
