Important Updates

New Accommodations Webpage

IMSA has launched a new, streamlined accommodations webpage that serves as the starting point for all academic, housing, and medical accommodation requests.

Students who are seeking accommodations for the 2026-2027 school year (including those who have received accommodations in the past) must complete the updated request process and submit current documentation (obtained within the last two years) of disability and/or medical need through the new system.

The updated website outlines:

  • How to request accommodations
  • Required documentation guidelines
  • The review and interactive meeting process
  • Information specific to academic, housing, and medical supports

Students who only require medication forms or an emergency action plan (and no additional accommodations) should continue working directly with Health Services.

IMSA reviews each request individually to ensure that approved supports are aligned with documented needs and the residential academic environment. Students and families are encouraged to begin the process early and to review the new website carefully before submitting materials.

For questions, please contact accommodations@imsa.edu.

Help Us Say Thank You in a BIG Way

Sign the giant thank-you cards in Old Caf from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Governor Pritzker’s FY27 proposed budget includes a historic $100 million investment to support IMSA’s longstanding request for new residential halls. This is the largest proposed state investment in our history! While the budget awaits final approval in May, we want to express our sincere gratitude for this important step.

Please stop by the Old Caf this week between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to sign both giant Thank You cards. One card is for the Governor, and one is for Deputy Governor Martin Torres, who has been a strong advocate for IMSA. Add a brief message and your name to help show how meaningful this investment is to our community.

6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Paramount Theater - Aurora

Dr. Glazer is taking students to the award-winning Broadway musical "Dear Evan Hansen" at the Paramount Theater in Aurora. The IMSA Fund is generously contributing to ticket costs, so students will only have to pay $10 (which will be charged to students' IMSA accounts).

The group will depart from IMSA at 6:00 p.m. and return at about 10:00 p.m. Priority will be given to seniors and students who have signed up between March 3 and March 7. Signups will be open until March 14. If a student cancels, they will still be responsible for paying the full ticket fee ($20).

IMSA's Commitment to Sharing

Educational Practices

IMSA's purpose expands beyond creating access to opportunity for students in advanced areas of STEM. We also design programs to support educator development so they may be more impactful with students beyond IMSA.

On Friday, February 27, IMSA ran an institute day that included hundreds of educators from the region. To make such a day possible, IMSA adjusted its weekly calendar to make I-Day on a Friday, and its outreach team led the planning. If you have younger students at home who attend a public school in Kane/DuPage counties, they likely had the day off from school because those teachers were attending institute days, not just at IMSA, but all over the region.

Special thanks to Lindsey Herlehy for making the day a success. I'd also like to thank the IMSA colleagues who shared their practices so that teachers all over can have some new ideas to ignite students in their classrooms. Check out the program, including over 35 IMSA faculty and staff presentations.

Staff Spotlight

Dr. Anderson Trimm recently published an article, co-authored with Dr. Glazer, in the Illinois Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development journal, highlighting the benefits of thoughtful assessment and consistent feedback for math learners. The article, titled "Improving Students’ Efficacy in Mathematics Through Progression-Based Assessment," outlines how breaking mathematical concepts into clear, measurable steps and providing students with regular, actionable feedback can strengthen both skill development and confidence.

By sharing his experiences and approaches used at IMSA, Dr. Trimm is contributing to broader conversations about innovative teaching and demonstrating how research-informed classroom practices can help math learners at IMSA and beyond.
