Congratulations to Karthik Prasad, who was recognized as a Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar. The Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and mathematics competition for high school seniors. Karthik’s project, “On Yetter-Drinfeld Modules Over the Pansera Algebras,” explored patterns and rule systems in advanced mathematics. He was selected as one of 300 scholars nationwide from thousands of applicants.
Each of the 300 scholars will receive a $2,000 award from Regeneron, with an additional $2,000 awarded to their school to support student learning and innovation in STEM. Forty finalists will each receive $25,000 and the opportunity to compete for the $250,000 first-place prize during a weeklong competition in March. The finalists will be announced January 21.

| | Our Titans have been taking their experiential learning opportunities across the globe this week for Intersession. Here are some highlights of their travels! | | |
Scotland and Ireland
Students traveled through Scotland and Ireland, where lands once home to ancient Celtic and Gaelic tribes revealed histories that blend seamlessly with modern life. They stepped into the Middle Ages while visiting Edinburgh’s Royal Mile and the towering spire of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. In Belfast, students explored how a city shaped by past conflict has evolved, experiencing its restored 19th-century architecture and vibrant, growing arts scene firsthand.
| | |
The Alps and the Mediterranean Coast
Students traveled from the Swiss Alps to northern Italy, continued along the French Riviera, and visited Provence, France. Along the way, they explored the Lucerne region, ascended a Swiss Alp, and enjoyed a traditional Swiss fondue evening. Their journey also included Lake Como, the cliffside villages of Cinque Terre, and visits to Monaco and Nice. In Provence, students toured Avignon, viewed Roman ruins, and sampled Mediterranean cuisine. They will conclude their trip in Barcelona, exploring the city’s beaches and distinctive architecture.
| | |
History and Architecture in Spain and Portugal
Students explored the Iberian Peninsula’s rich artistic heritage, where history, culture and religion were reflected in royal palaces, Moorish-influenced mosques, medieval fortresses and architectural gardens. Throughout the journey in Spain and Portugal, students used sketchbooks to document the works that resonated with them, capturing their experiences through drawings, recreations and creative writing.
| | Each year, IMSA issues a report to the governor's office regarding its progress, programs, and successes from the previous year. I invite you to take a look at this year's report, which describes our strategic efforts towards IMSA 2033, recognitions of students, staff, and alumni, and our commitment to advancing innovation in areas important to the state of Illinois, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, sustainability, biotech, biomanufacturing, and more. |
