Congratulations to Abhinav Anne '26 for his outstanding performance in the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO)! Out of over 12,000 students nationwide, Abhinav has been selected as a Semifinalist, placing among the top 500 biology students in the nation.
The USABO, organized by the Center for Excellence in Education, is the premier high school biology competition in the United States. It challenges students with advanced topics in molecular biology, genetics, physiology, and ecology, preparing them for future careers in science and medicine.

| | Our Responsibility to Our Planet | |
This week is a good opportunity to remind ourselves of an important IMSA belief that we are all stewards of our planet. One approach is to develop a deeper understanding and connection to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Over the course of the year, 10th graders connect to one goal, in particular, and then present a pitch on April 25 at the Student Leadership Exchange on how it can be addressed through a particular application.
Students are also engaged in service. This week is Earth Day and National Arbor Day, and there's a chance for students to volunteer in a park clean-up in Aurora (sign up here). For students headed home over the weekend, make it a family activity at one of many other Earth Day activities in your area by searching on the IAGC/IMSA learning enrichment engine. There are over a dozen opportunities.
Lastly, I want to applaud our students for their proposal of a sustainability policy for IMSA. They have been actively engaging IMSA leadership over the year, and plan to present to the Board in May. Once approved, we will work together to establish a plan with desired sustainability outcomes for the Academy.
