Alumni Spotlight

Advith Chelikani ‘14, co-founder of Pylon, has been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 – Big Money list in recognition of his leadership in building an AI-powered customer service platform that helps businesses manage and automate complex customer interactions.

In under three years, Pylon has grown to more than 750 B2B customers and secured $31 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz and Bain Capital Ventures.

Jordan Henry ’25 continues to make a meaningful impact in communities across Illinois. While at IMSA, she collaborated with Representative Anna Moeller on HB 1910, the Illinois Local Library Act. This legislation requires all public libraries in Illinois to maintain a supply of life-saving overdose reversal medication, such as naloxone. It also requires training for library staff to recognize overdoses and administer the medication, helping communities respond more effectively to the opioid crisis.

HB 1910 was passed unanimously by both the Illinois House and Senate last spring and was signed into law by Governor Pritzker last summer. The legislation went into effect on January 1 of this year, thanks in large part to Jordan’s research, advocacy, and perseverance in addressing an issue that affects communities statewide.

Intersession: A Time to Explore

This time between semesters, which we refer to as intersession, is a wonderful time for our students to explore seminars and experiences that are not usually available to them during the semester (see the catalog). Seminars are organized by faculty, staff, alumni and members of our community. In some years, I have taken students on trips to connect their interest in science and technology with IMSA alumni doing meaningful work in their careers in other cities. This year, I plan to be a student to learn more about quantum computing and algorithms.

Parents and guardians, you too can host an intersession in the future, either at your worksite or as a guest lecturer. Please reach out to our Director of Experiential Learning, Dr. Luke Berryman (lberryman@imsa.edu) if you are interested.

Calendar

January 5 - 16 - Intersession

January 19 - Dr. Martin Luther King Day (Academy is closed, but residence halls remain open)

January 20 - MLK Jr. Assembly

January 31 - Family Day

What else should we include?
