TITLE IX SAMPLE
POLICIES & PROCEDURES
Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Education released new Title IX regulations that will go into effect this Friday, August 14, 2020. These regulations brought big changes to Title IX which addresses a range of issues involving sexual harassment and sexual discrimination. The Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) has been hard at work reviewing these regulations and updating our sample policies and procedures accordingly.

Below are amendments to the following sample policies and procedures:

  1. Policy GBR – Sexual Harassment
  2. Policy GBR-P – Sexual Harassment – Procedures
  3. Policy JB – Student Complaints of Sexual Discrimination Harassment – Title IX
  4. Policy JB-P – Student Complaints of Sexual Discrimination Harassment – Title IX

Each has been rebuilt from the ground up to account for the sweeping regulations to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Policies GBR and GBR-P involve your employees, whereas policies JB and JB-P involve your students. Keep in mind that GBR-P is an attachment to policy GBR and JB-P is an attachment to policy JB. Both of these attachments are the procedures to their corresponding policy; therefore, you will not find a code for each of the procedures. Instead, the procedures will be in the “Exhibits” tab of each policy. You will also be able to locate these policies by searching our sample policies.
