Proposed Title IX Rules redefine "sex" and will redefine women's sports - but you can take action

According to the Biden Administration Department of Education (DOE), its proposed new Title IX rules will "strengthen protections for LGBTQIA+ students who face discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity."

Federal Title IX law was originally enacted 50 years ago in part to ensure that girls and women had access to athletic resources in schools overwhelmingly going to boys and men at the time. But under the proposed new rules sexual orientation and gender identity will now be a protected class under Title IX. This would permeate every grade school, high school, and college and university in the country.

This will affect more than women's sports. The new rules require access to locker rooms, overnight field trip accommodations and more based on a person’s self-proclaimed gender identity.

At the same time, other new rules will take away due process from students accused of sexual harassment. It’s back to secret deliberations over the accused where one person can serve as judge and jury, while the accused does not have the right even to face his or her accuser.

Importantly, the onerous new Title IX regulations are not final. There is a comment period that can turn things around. Voicing your concerns can work. As a result of receiving more than 35,000 comments, the Biden Department of Education (DOE) recently backed off encouraging the use of the 1619 Project in order to receive a grant from the DOE.

You can learn more here and here about the onerous new Title IX provisions, and can click here to voice your concerns and submit comments about Title IX to the DOE. DOE must answer every comment submitted -- your voice will be heard and every comment helps.
