San Francisco Supplemental Small Business Relief Program
|
Tlingit & Haida has allocated $150,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding to provide relief to tribal citizen small business owners who have been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic and are on the Tribe’s official San Francisco community voting list. Under the San Francisco Supplemental Small Business Relief program, tribal citizens can apply for a one-time reimbursement of up to $5,000 in eligible business expenses.
10 grants have been awarded and 20 grants are remaining to be awarded.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen and tribal citizen of Tlingit & Haida.
- Must be 50% owner of a small business.
- Must have 50 employees or less.
- Must be a licensed business prior to January 1, 2023.
- Must provide legible and valid business receipts dated between January 1 - December 29, 2023.

Evergreen Elders Workforce Development Program

Are you 55+ years of age and seeking work?
Our Employment & Training Department's new Evergreen Elders Workforce Development program is here to help! The program provides a full range of education, retraining and employment services and is available in several Southeast Alaska communities.
Communities Served: Craig • Juneau • Klawock • Pelican • Saxman • Tenakee
Services provided include learning new skill and technology and retraining and work experience.

Tlingit & Haida is hosting a PFD Super Bingo on Thursday, October 5. Doors open at 5 PM and games begin at 6 PM.
There will be two sessions (with an hour break in between) with a total of $10,000 in cash prize payouts. The buy-in minimum is $15.
Note: You must be 19 to play Bingo and 21 to buy pull tabs.

Tlingit & Haida's Executive Council will meet October 12-13, 2023 in Anchorage, Alaska at the Dena'ina Center (Kahtnu Room). The meeting will also be available online via Zoom.
For those interested in attending, a draft of the meeting agenda will be made available on Tlingit & Haida's website soon (click here).
Breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days for those attending in person. All Delegates, Community Council members and tribal citizens are encouraged to attend.

Enrollment Committee Meeting Notice
|
Tlingit & Haida's Enrollment Committee will meet August 1-3, 2023 in Juneau, Alaska to review and act on pending enrollment applications and requests for blood quantum corrections.
During the Enrollment Committee's last meeting held in August, 517 enrollment applications were approved bringing the Tribe’s total enrollment to 36,559.
If you are of Tlingit and/or Haida descent and would like to enroll or request a blood quantum correction, applications or requests must be received by October 25, 2023.

Indigenous Peoples' Day Healing Event

The Presbyterian Church (USA), Northwest Coast Presbytery, and Ḵunéix̱ Hídi Northern Light United Church will be holding three healing events (October 7-9) in Juneau, Alaska for the racist closure of Rev. Dr. Walter Soboleff’s Memorial Presbyterian Church in 1963.
The church will make reparations in the form of payments to Sealaska Heritage Institute and Tlingit & Haida for language revitalization and other causes.
Rev. Dr. Walter Soboleff was the Presbyterian Church’s first Alaska Native ordained minister, and he assumed the pulpit at Memorial Presbyterian Church in 1940 at the age of 32.
