Join us next Friday, October 27 from 5 PM - 7:30 PM at the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall for a story time event to launch the new children’s book, Kuhaantí! The book is the first of nine Lingít language children’s books to be published based on traditional stories. Kuhaantí tells the story of the orphan Saháan as she journeys through difficult times and learns life lessons that teach her the important tribal value of respect.
Whether you're an early learner or experienced speaker, Kuhaantí is an engaging Lingít language resource for the whole family. We hope to see you as we celebrate the launch of our first Lingít children's book and our commitment to upholding our traditional languages!
All are encouraged to wear their regalia and join our Tlingit Culture, Language & Literacy students in song and dance as we celebrate the book launch together.
Tribal citizens who have children between the ages of 0-7 can sign up online to receive a free copy of the book at the event or by postal mail, click here.
