Dear Tribal Citizens,
As we navigate times of change, Tlingit & Haida remains steadfast in our mission to preserve our sovereignty, strengthen our economic and cultural resources, and promote self-sufficiency and self-governance for our citizens.
With each presidential transition, it is natural to have concerns and questions about what lies ahead. Please be assured Tlingit & Haida leadership is closely monitoring executive orders, appointments, and other developments from the new administration for potential impacts on tribal citizens and the Tribe. We are taking proactive steps to ensure our voices are heard and our interests are protected.
The strength of our people has always persevered, and we will continue on the same path that our Ancestors have laid for us. Our unbreakable bond with our lands, oceans, clans, and communities have carried us through generations of challenges and will continue to guide us forward.
We remain focused and proactive in protecting the health, safety, and well-being of our people, as well as protecting Haa Aaní / Na Yuubm and Haa Kuusteyí / Tlagw íitl’ xíinangaa Gíidang which have sustained our people for thousands of years. This stewardship is at the heart of who we are, and we stand strong in our commitment to future generations – we have always, and will always be here.
We encourage all tribal citizens to stay politically engaged. Track legislation that matters to you, connect with our Congressional Delegation, and raise your voice on issues impacting our communities. Your advocacy strengthens the sovereignty and self-determination of our Tribe.
Tlingit & Haida welcomes you to share your comments, concerns, or feedback regarding executive orders. Your voice is an essential part of shaping the work we do to serve our communities. Please take this opportunity to let us know how these orders impact you, your family, or your community. Your insights will help us ensure we are addressing the needs and priorities of tribal citizens.
Gunalchéesh, Háw’aa (Thank You),
Tlingit & Haida President
