To Do or Not To Do

The Lord is my shepherd, He leads me to green pastures.

~Psalm 23:1

Many are the plans in the minds of people, but the Lord purpose of the Lord that will stand.

~Proverbs 19:21

We make plans. We draw up lists of things we need to take care of, and lists of things we need. Often our days are mapped out with these things. There is nothing wrong with this. It promotes efficiency and provides us with satisfaction when the list is all checked off.

But God wants us to put our days in His hands first. He promised us green pastures and still waters. Too many times we exchange God’s peace for our own determination to get things done!

Think of the opportunities that may be missed if you don’t ask the Lord to direct your steps every day. Do we trust God only so far, but still think we know what is best? Do we miss situations where we might have passed on love or encouragement because we are so focused on what we need to get done.

Every day in the morning, before we make our lists, ask God to open our minds, eyes, ears, and mouth to His leading. Ask God to bless our day and our list of things to do, our plans and our goings in and out.

Don’t miss out on the blessings of God because you are focused on what you need to get done! You will be surprised by the blessings that come your way. The green valleys and still waters will calm your hectic day.
