TO MASK OR NOT TO MASK!
OK, before you decide to not even read this Boundless let me assure you that I am not going to open that can of worms! Isn’t it amazing how one small thing that seems so unimportant to us can be turned into something larger than life? I have a good friend and teaching buddy that use to say, and I quote “Why are we making such a big deal about this when 10 years from now we won’t even remember that it happened.”
Upon coming home from the mission field in Honduras I felt that I was a different person. I firmly believe that everything that we do in ministry should change us for the better. So, when I came home, I didn’t look at things the same way. Things that were so important when I left really weren’t when I got home. I remember being impatient with people. Many times, I wanted to just look at them and say I
t Doesn’t Matter
. You are focusing on things that are not important. To add to my frustration people wanted to put me right back in the box that I was in when I left. It was almost like they had saved my spots in ministry because they knew I would be home eventually and would want to shift back into the old routine.
So, let’s go back to this mask situation. Are we letting something so small allow us to be at odds with our neighbors? What about in our churches? Social media is big in our church. While I am not a fan and honestly not very good at it and I vow to stay off, my curiosity gets the best of me and I “take a peek”. (As I was just writing that it occurred to me that that’s the way sin is!) I see posts that are made by my church family and I want to say “Seriously! Was there any thought put into that before you hit the send button!”
Oh, how we let things cloud our judgement. How we let things get in the way of our mission as believers. I must be honest and admit to you that in the last couple of weeks I have let COVID 19 be an excuse for not moving forward in ministry. I have let it defeat me and I am admitting to that now.
I am asking you right now to commit to praying for me and Women’s Ministries. And I in turn will do the same. Let’s not let anything derail us from the calling that God has on our lives and the mission that He has placed on our hearts. Let’s not let those excuses be our mask that we hide behind.
Ladies let’s get busy! There’s lots of work to be done! Once again, I will share my favorite verse of scripture. Hebrews 12:1 “
since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
