A Message from Our Board

West Central Behavioral Health's Board of Directors has named AJ Horvath as Interim President & CEO, to lead the agency during a time of transition. Horvath will bring his extensive healthcare and organizational leadership experience to West Central, having served at the Clara Martin Center and most recently at Dartmouth Health. “AJ Horvath is a remarkably strong and engaging leader who will put his talent to good
use in this important role,” says Will Torrey MD, Board Chair.
AJ shared, “I am honored to be able assist WCBH during this time of transition and look forward to working with such a talented group of leaders, providers and staff."
Meet Maria
Maria Dominguez, Early Child Clinician

When we asked Maria why she chooses to work at West Central Behavioral Health she told us that there are multiple reasons. They all come together as a perfect-fit job working with the youngest of children, those who are ages 0–6. Maria specializes in using techniques from play and expressive art therapies with children who are experiencing emotional and behavioral symptoms. Many of whom have experienced trauma.

After obtaining a Master’s Degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy Maria began work in Boston’s public school system, then moved to the Upper Valley with her partner (now husband). To her surprise, she found the needs of children to be significant in our rural communities.
Maria works with children and families in all West Central locations—Claremont, Lebanon, and Newport. She hopes that, through her efforts with early intervention via Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), generational trajectories will change.

Part of Maria’s work success is her strong bond with her colleagues on West Central’s Child Services team and their mutual support for one another. In the short-term, her goals are to finish the CPP learning collaborative to become a rostered CPP Clinician. Maria has completed the licensure requirements for New Hampshire and plans to apply for licensing.
In a Crisis?

A "crisis" doesn't have to rise to the level of
a life-threatening event to call or text the
New Hampshire Rapid Response Access Point at 833-710-6477, or to chat online with a crisis clinician at NH988.com.

When needed, the Access Point will alert our mobile crisis response clinicians.

West Central is proud and honored to take the lead in our community to create a Veterans Coalition that serves Sullivan and Lower Grafton County. This coalition is part of an initiative by New Hampshire's Department of Military & Veteran Affairs to create 13 Veteran coalitions across that state that serve the unique needs of very different geographic locations. While the coalition is spearheaded by West Central Behavioral Health, it is comprised of community members, organizations, and businesses with the shared interest in delivering tailored support to our local Veterans and their families.

Meetings take place on the 3rd Wednesday of every month via Zoom at 1PM. If you are interested in attending a meeting, contact Bill at his email address below. Please help us support the mental health of our local Veterans.

Join us for an Applied Suicide Intervention Skill Training (ASIST) on January 11th & 12th from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM at the Claremont Savings Bank Conference Center. FREE of charge, open to Veterans and families of Veterans. Lunch is included. For those who are interested to know more or to register, contact Bill at WMetcalfe@wcbh.org.
Individual Placement & Supported Employment Service at West Central
A Snapshot of Recent Client Successes at Local Businesses

After shadowing an employer, our client decided to move forward by submitting an application for employment at a local movie theater.

Supported Employment staff helped a client create a resume and supported them throughout the application process.
As a result, the client was offered a job at a Big Box retailer.
