Do you know you have a precious little one inside?

One with many faces and feelings who has been with you all your life?

The little you as an infant, a toddler, a 5 year old, tween, teen...

they're all in there... waiting to be seen and heard and held.

Do you know you made decisions about yourself and life long ago

through this tender-hearted, wide-eyed wonder...

The one who saw and felt and thought so many things?

Seeing, feeling and thinking, led to believing and concluding,

Which led to some misunderstandings and confusion,

Which led to building positions, rules and stances,

Clever masks, defenses and missed chances.

There are some people who dismiss the inner child as non-sense.

They regard the past as old news and don't dare to look back.

Some pretend away their history and exile their little ones.

In my experience this is one of our greatest tragedies,

both personally and collectively.

The intricacies of our past influence so much of who we come to be.

You can still find, rescue, tend to and revive the little one inside.

You can bring compassion and new higher understanding.

In doing this you open to greater love, joy, creativity and wholeness.

In a recent Forgiveness Workshop, I saw my little girl self staring

out of her bedroom window, feeling alone, lost and afraid.

In the depth of her loneliness and despair, she made some false

conclusions about herself and life that deeply impacted... everything.

Being with her wounded heart, I saw how much of my personality stems

from long ago promises she made to protect herself and to survive.

In response, I wrote this to her:

To the little girl staring out the window feeling all alone, lost and scared,

To the beloved child feeling abandoned and invisible, like nobody cared;

I see you

To the tender one feeling so sad over losing your mother so young,

To the child who needed to mourn, but felt you couldn't come undone;

I see you

To the precious wonder left wondering how you got here and why you came,

To the innocent one, feeling unworthy and like a burden, living in shame;

I see you

To the faithful and devoted one saying your nightly prayers like a good little girl,

To the suspicious one who ceased praying, thinking it useless in this world;

I see you

To the brave little warrior who felt the need to be born on that lonely day,

To the one who grew stronger and mightier, finding endless dragons to slay;

I see you

To the hyper-vigilant one who vowed back then, never to lower her gaze,

To the one who held the tension, staying on high alert and fierce in her ways;

I see you

To the one who never rests, who has prided herself in staying awake,

Forever trying to help, fighting the good fight for goodness sake;

I see you

To the over-producer, over-creator, excessive director, Queen Busy Bee,

To the relentless good trouble maker, non-stopping shaker going for free;

I see you

To the one who tells others that God is here and There’s nothing to fear,

But hasn’t yet learned how to trust and let Divine Mother hold herself near;

I see you

To the one who longs for depth and connection, for realness and Truth,

To the one who steps up bravely, open heartedly, championing youth;

I see you

To the one trying to make things better, and sometimes making a mess,

To the one wearing her heart on her sleeve, and always trying her best;

I see you

To the one who feels so deeply and loves so sweetly, embracing it all,

To the one who gives so freely and shines so brightly, afraid to fall;

I see you

To the one trying so desperately to hold it all together, to be a light,

To the one who thinks its her job to hold the sunshine up at night;

I see you

To the one whose worth and value has been wrapped up in this clever tale,

To the one who’s afraid to let go and surrender to the Knowing that All Is Well;

I see you

And it’s okay

You are okay

You are all of this and so much more.

And I wouldn’t trade one second of any of this precious life, our lessons

and blessings, for all have shaped the wondrous Being we are, pure loving consciousness, continually learning and unlearning, growing and glowing,

returning home to our Whole and Holy Self.

Most of us emerge from childhood with conscious and

unconscious psychic wounds and emotional unfinished business.

What we leave incomplete we are doomed to repeat. The untreated

TED Talk: Hold Onto Your Inner Child (9 minutes)

Many people don’t realize they have a lost inner child who makes a lot of decisions in their adult life that the responsible adult self later has to clean up. They go about their lives on auto-pilot, impulsively reacting, yelling at the top of their lungs, withdrawing and sulking, or keeping others at arm’s length because they are scared of emotional connection. They feel hurt, confused, abused, shamed, or neglected, just like they did as a child, but now they look and sound like an adult. They are unaware that a part of them is lost and emotionally stuck in place. Many people are scared to look within

because they know at some level that something powerful is lurking

in the shadows, carrying all of those feelings they want to avoid.

The ORGANIZED Corner

This is where I share about my Home Organizing business - a tip or trick,

a client story, a win or struggle as a soulo business owner.

TIP: As a former Kindergarten Teacher, I saw firsthand how kids thrive when there is organization and flow in their environment. Routines should be kept simple and make sense to them. It takes time to discuss and model responsibility and routines, but the investment is so worth it.

Our nervous systems feel safe and can relax when there is order.

Jesus tells us that unless we become like little children, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. That child mind, sometimes called beginner’s mind in Zen, is the innocence of pure being, of unconditional love.

TED Talk: How Children Thrive by 7 year old Molly Wright (8 minutes)

If by growing up you mean allowing the adult within me to abandon the child within me, I have no interest in such a horrid proposition. If instead you mean to let each enhance the other at the exclusion of neither, I have every interest.

Inspirational SOUL of the Month

Meet one of my greatest Spiritual Mentors and Teachers, James Day. We met in 2008 when I lived in Puerto Vallarta. I was seeking Spiritual guidance and a new conscious teaching after exhausting paths that were no longer a fit. While trying to find a local A Course In Miracles group, the contact woman listed on the website told me a guest teacher from The Fourth Way would be speaking at someone's home nearby that Friday night. I showed up on this beautiful evening out on the balcony with about 25 other students. James and his wife Alejandra who translated were there. I sat front row, eager to check things out, but I was also very skeptical.

By this time on my journey, I was good at seeing the shadow of spiritual teachers and gurus, and 'seeing' this was happening more frequently which was a real bummer. I could only follow teachers who led with heart. James did this. I watched him closely. He was present, gentle, kind, attentive, humble and very aware of everyone in the space. I don't remember anything he talked about, but I remember the knowing I had that he was real, a real being who was devoted to inner work and walking the path. I went back to listen to him a few more nights on his week long visit of teachings. It turns out that his teacher who was supposed to be leading this particular week couldn't come (they were from Texas) because of an injury. It was James' first time ever teaching!!! A couple years later I met James' teacher... and I would have never followed him! There is no doubt that Spirit arranged James and I meeting that night. In fact, I heard a clear directive from my Higher Self that I was to follow him because he was humble and gentle - two qualities that I very much lacked. When James returned home to Texas, he offered to meet with me on a Tuesday night via Skype. I went into that meeting not knowing how any of this would work... and thinking it was going to cost a lot of money, which I would not have paid. But it didn't. Not one penny. At the end of this call James said, 'Okay then I will see you next week' to which I said 'we get to meet again?' His answer was if you want to. We met every week for the next 6 or 7 years. In all of our time working together, he never once asked for money. There is a reason for this in the teaching which I deeply resonate with, but it's too complex to explain here.

To say James made a meaningful difference in my life is an understatement. There were long periods when I felt that no one understood the depth of unraveling and deeper self-inquiry I was growing through, accept for James. He always, without fail, loved me unconditionally and helped me lift through these experiences. I was losing my own spiritual ego which was a very painful, long and messy process. I thanked God for James every day because I don't know if I could've made it through without him. James is also incredibly open to learning which helped me feel safe with him. I am empathic and get great insight and guidance through my emotions. Some spiritual paths (often those run by men) disregard and demonize emotions, and this is harmful. James understands the gift of our emotions (and higher emotions) which was deeply healing for me. Thank you James for being who and what you are. Thank you for reminding me of what I am. I am Remembering to Remember. I love you

Our problem is not that as children our needs were unmet,

YOUTUBE: Inner Child Healing by Thich Nhat Hanh (18 minutes)

The inner child is as real as the grown up adult. It’s like the seed of corn

is still real in the plant of corn. It’s there; it’s not only a matter of the past. So if the plant of corn knows that she is one with the grain of corn, conversation is possible.

We tend to think that all people who have a wounded inner child are nice, quiet, and long-suffering. But in fact, the wounded inner child is responsible for much of the violence and cruelty in the world.
