January 2020
Successes and Hopes for 2020
We had a record year in 2019, yet we served only a fraction of those in need. How do we plan to grow and help more people in 2020? Our Interim CEO Sunny Jones will fill you in.

A New Year Brings New Changes
Four brand new services, and thousands of people in need. Our Welcome Center is addressing some often-overlooked issues by providing new, expansive services. Our Director of the Welcome Center has the details.
An Adopted Child, Closer Than Blood
Adoption is an emotional, trying process. Read about Jack's story of adoption and how he went from skeptic to believer in a matter of minutes.
The Truth About Predatory Lending
Over 12 million Americans find themselves in the bind of predatory lending each year. While this often occurs by accident, many know exactly what they're doing. Hear from our Director of Employment Services on why this happens and how we can help.
A Sustainable Future for Veterans
This is the third part of our four-step process in guiding veterans out of poverty. Our Veteran Services specialist explains why sustainability, the ability to be self-sufficient, is the most-crucial and often most difficult step.
From Crisis To Thriving
We often believe that to make a big impact, we need to be big givers. Our Director of Development is here to tell you about the Catholic Charities Emergency Assistance Fund and why every dollar makes a difference.
Celebrating St. Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church
January 28 marks the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, friar, philosopher, priest and doctor of the Church. This amazing saint has influenced not only the Church, but all of Western Civilization. St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us!
Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph has several career opportunities.

Recently, a tenured staff member announced her retirement. After more than 22 years at Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph, Jan has left an indelible mark on our clients, colleagues and community partners working as the Director of Community Housing. Her career has embodied all that Catholic Charities stands for— the dignity of the human person, seeking the common good and well-being for all.

While we will bid Jan farewell in a few weeks, Catholic Charities is fortunate to have other staff just like her. Our social services case managers have a passion for helping the vulnerable, marginalized and, quite frankly, forgotten members of our society. They work hard to ensure all clients leaving feeling seen, heard, known, and loved.

The search to replace Jan and join our team of case managers has begun. To view and apply for our open positions, visit us at www.catholiccharities-kcsj.org ,
or contact Tara McGranaghan, Chief Human Resources Officer, at tmcgranaghan@ccharities.com.
