Reopening the Bleu Room

We are excited to share that Haywood St. Art is returning to the Bleu Room on the lower level of the church next Wednesday, Oct. 14th! Asheville Street Feet will also be joining us that day in the space beside the Bleu Room!

Before moving back, we will be painting that area Saturday, October 10 beginning at 9:00 a.m. We'd love to have some help with this project. Please join us if you feel called to do so!

Silent Auction Preview and Early Bidding

With a full slate of golfers we are looking forward a fun tournament at the Country Club of Asheville on October 19th! We are grateful for everyone who registered, our wonderful sponsors, and those who donated items for the GFA Silent Auction.

We are inviting everyone, whether you are participating in the tournament or not, to preview the auction and have the opportunity to set the opening bid. If your bid is the highest by Wednesday Oct. 14th at 5pm, that is where the auction will begin on the day of the tournament. You will be notified and given the chance to continue bidding at the golf reception or to bid by proxy. We have a wonderful selection of items so take a look by following the link below.

Thank you to our sponsors!

Haywood Street Highlights

Last week, Lady Gloria Ridge residents and friends enjoyed First Friday Fish Fry and Bingo Night. Shout out to Sheneika for keeping the plates filled and to everyone who made this a memorable evening. If you'd like to know more about what's happening at Lady Gloria Ridge, you can view their newsletter here.

Led by Rev. Dr. Preston Davis, a group from High Point University made their annual fall pilgrimage to Asheville this week. They wholeheartedly spent time in ministry with us doing everything from painting bathrooms and beautifying the campus to joining us at the table and in worship.

Thursday afternoon this crew embarked on a Wilderness Trail backpacking trip. These trips have been a part of the Haywood St. story for many years. Wishing this group of sojourners all the best as they spend some holy time in nature together. Image shown: Chris, Jessica, Matthew, Brook, Jerry, and Brian.

Genesis 1: 20 - 31

While there are a lot of things to discuss or debate about creation and the creation story, one thing that is not up for debate is what God thought about it all. Over and over we read God saw it was good, tov. God saw everything and indeed it was very good. God created out of love. Not because God had to. God didn’t need company or help or a break. God created all that is out of love.

A witness to include the most excluded, Haywood Street not only welcomes every child of God–especially beloved siblings of every mental illness and physical disability, addiction and diagnosis, living condition and employment status, gender identity and sexual orientation, class, color, and creed–but we celebrate your presence, certain that the kingdom of God is coming closer because you are here.
