Twitter Town Hall
A big thank you to all who spent some social media time with Mayor Dan Bobbett at our Twitter Town Hall, held on Thursday, July 18 as part of the public consultation portion of the new "myParadise" Strategic Plan.

"The Twitter Town Hall was a fun, innovative way to connect with residents," Mayor Bobbett said of the experience. "We had some great back and forth on a variety of topics and we've passed the information along to the consultants developing the new plan."

The Town is working with Twells Consulting to develop a new multi-year strategic plan. It will provide guidance, direction and measurable goals to the Town, for the next three years, through to 2022 and is expected to be completed later this Fall.
SunSplash 2019
It's summertime in Paradise, and that means our annual SunSplash Paddle in Paradise Festival is right around the corner! This year's week-long festival is jam-packed with fun in the sun for the whole family.

Everything kicks off on Sunday, August 11 with an Opening Ceremony at Paradise Park and goes out with a bang on Sunday, August 18 with a day of live entertainment, activities for the kids, and the largest fireworks display the Town has ever put off.

There are multiple events planned for each day of SunSplash week, including a movie in Paradise Park, a gigantic outdoor kitchen party, Bingo, fitness activities, and the ever-popular Paddle in Paradise Dragon Boat Festival on Octagon Pond. For complete details and a full schedule of events, visit paradise.ca/sunsplash.
Korean War Ceremony
The Korean War began on June 25, 1950 when, after several skirmishes along the border, North Korea invaded South Korea. Over 25,000 Canadian soldiers served as part of a United Nations force. Over three years later, on July 27, 1953, combat operations ended after an armistice was signed, though not before more than 1200 Canadian soldiers were wounded and 516 were killed.

Join us Sunday, July 28 at 10:55 a.m. at the Town Hall War Memorial as we honour and remember our Canadian heroes who served in the Korean War. For more information and to lay a wreath during the ceremony, please call 709-782-6290 or email.

Civic Holiday Closure
Residents are advised that Paradise Town Hall will be closed on Monday, August 5 due to the civic holiday. Garbage collection is unaffected by this closure, and the Paradise Double Ice Complex (including the Fitness Centre and RPYCC) will be operating on a normal schedule.

The 92nd annual Tely 10 Mile Road Race kicks off in Paradise on Sunday, July 28. The Tely 10, which runs through Paradise, Mount Pearl and St. John's, is Newfoundland's premier road race, and is believed to be the third oldest road race in Canada and one of the oldest in North America.

Garbage Box Removal
The Town's automated garbage collection program uses Town-supplied wheeled carts, meaning garbage boxes are no longer needed for waste collection. You can keep your old garbage box as long as it's not at the front of your property. Alternatively, you can also re-purpose your garbage box. Some uses include: a receptacle for sorting recyclables, storage for outdoor garden supplies/toys, or even converting them to rain barrels used to collected water for gardening or composting.

If you don't want to re-purpose your garbage box, the Town can collect it for you. Contact the Waste Management Department at 782-3577 to schedule a pickup.
