Graduation Season is Upon Us
In the coming weeks, adult learners will cross the virtual stage to celebrate the success of their journey. For the FIRST time ever at Santa Monica College (SMC), noncredit students are invited to participate in the campus’ commencement ceremony.

This year, SMC awarded 87 noncredit certificates in short-term vocational and workforce preparation: Business Essentials, Customer Service, Introduction to Early Care and Education, and more. Join us in celebrating SMC noncredit graduates!

After Graduation, Adult Learners Transition to Higher Education
Did you know that 47% of GED recipients go on to higher education? According to COABE, studies show that 47% of GED recipients go on to higher education and have a 90% persistence rate. This data is proof that adult learners are attaining their educational goals and creating a better life for themselves and their families.

Spotlight on Collaboration: San Diego/Imperial Strong Workforce Workgroup
The San Diego/Imperial Super Region Roundtable formed an adult education and noncredit workgroup with their region’s Strong Workforce Program to develop pathways from adult education and noncredit to credit programs. The workgroup is currently identifying ways to utilize a pathway mapping tool originally created for middle and high schools to achieve their goal.
