Our Antique Salvage repurposed in new
Boston
restaurant!
Here are some photos of how Julian Bolger, repurposed
salvage
from Restoration Resources
in his
newest restaurant, The Bowery, in Dorchester, MA.
We have worked with him before on other projects, most recently Lucy's Tavern in Dorchester.
His latest venture is also in Lower Mills, Dorchester at the site of the former restaurant Esters.
Above is a cast iron piano sound board that actually came from the inside of a piano (where the strings are attached) and will be repurposed as decorative
wall art/a simple sculpture so to speak at the entrance to the new restaurant.
He purchased a number of items including light fixtures, some ornamental plaster, some old sewing machines, a pair of doors with stained glass, some decorative iron work, and also items for the outdoor patio- see photos below.
The restaurant is open now and we recommend you give it a try and check out our how salvaged material can be repurposed in a restaurant or a home. Tell Julian that Bill from Restoration Resources sent you!
Note this plaster piece that was formerly on top of a fireplace that came from Chestnut Hill, MA circa 1910. Julian decided to embed it into a wall as a decorative accent and created a plaster wall around it which you can see through the booths!

Legend, Peter Wolf into salvaged antiques...
(I don't mean me!)
He and his friend Nora are re-designing with salvage
Peter Wolf, musician and lead singer for the Boston based, J. Geils Band, rocks it with salvage. Last week rock legend Peter Wolf and his friend Nora stopped in the store. He is in the process of moving and was looking for some salvaged items as statement pieces for his new place. They purchased a wood fireplace mantel and plan to have it refinished as part of their new decor. They were also looking at some chandeliers and will be back to look for more things at our new location as their project progresses.
Also fyi, for those of you who have been in the store before and asked about the panel rooms (seen in the background of the photo), the owner of the rooms who has been storing them with us decided to finally sell them to an institution that appreciates the craftsmanship, quality and exquisite detail of these gorgeous pieces!
